Pokemon Discussion Thread - Red & Blue arc

Honestly I have never understood this thing about "layers". It doesn't make much sense. You can have a character (or character's power/hax) stronger than how many other characters in the same verse as much as you want, but that has no correlation with a character from a completely different verse.

Its Flaming Great Swords Absorb Life Energy

Ceruledge dons an old set of armor steeped in grudges and wields blades made of fire and ghost energy. In battle, these blades transform into great swords to increase Ceruledge’s power. Cuts from these great swords leave wounds from which life energy will flow.

Willing to Do Anything to Win

Ceruledge prefers close-quarters combat and isn’t above using tactics such as sneak attacks and surprise attacks to win a battle. It uses its quick movements to capitalize on its opponent’s blind spots, then closes the distance to slash its opponent with its large blades.

A Move Ceruledge Can Learn: Bitter Blade

Bitter Blade is a Fire-type physical move that gathers the lingering regrets of the fallen into Ceruledge’s swords, allowing it to focus that bitterness into a slashing attack.
The swords then absorb life energy from wounds they made, and the user’s HP is restored by up to half the damage taken by the target.

Its Armor Is the Source of Its Psychic Power

Armarouge’s set of armor belonged to a distinguished warrior, and is the source of the energy used for its Psychic-type moves. It also uses the psychic capabilities of this armor to control the fire energy within its body and unleash attacks.

It Lives by the Principles of a Fair Fight

Armarouge believes in a fair fight and will challenge an opponent head-on no matter how much stronger that opponent is. It specializes in using its sturdy armor to bolster its defenses and take down enemies with its high firepower.

A Move Armarouge Can Learn: Armor Cannon

Armor Cannon is a Fire-type special move in which Armarouge moves both its pauldrons to its hands and puts its arms together to form a cannon, allowing it to shoot its own armor out as blazing projectiles.
This is one of the more powerful moves that Armarouge can learn, but it lowers Armorouge’s Defense and Sp. Defense stats in exchange for that power.

Can't wait for this dude to get a profile

Also this makes me want violet version even more

Spinning Eyes That Leave No Blind Spots

Klawf can rotate its protruding eyeballs to see everything around it, eliminating all blind spots. It latches upside down onto cliffs to ambush its prey from above. However, Klawf eventually gets dizzy from the blood rushing to its head, so it can’t stay upside down too long.

Claws That Are Both Strong and Dexterous

Klawf’s claws can hold onto things very tightly, not letting prey go once within its grasp. It uses one claw to hold its opponent in place while using the other to break its guard and hit it where it hurts. Even if a Klawf loses a claw in battle or elsewhere, it will grow back after a while. In certain parts of the Paldea region, Klawf claws are considered a valuable cooking ingredient.

Ability: Anger Shell

Klawf’s Anger Shell Ability is making its first appearance in the Pokémon series.
When Klawf’s HP drops to half or less, the Pokémon gets angry. This lowers its Defense and Sp. Def stats but boosts its Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed stats.

It Sets Up Poison Traps around Its Territory

Grafaiai is nocturnal. Once the sun sets, it licks its hands and fingers to cover them in poison, then uses them to draw patterns on the trees in its territory. The poisonous saliva it uses to paint paralyzes Bug Pokémon, which are drawn to the saliva’s sweet, fragrant scent. When dawn draws near, Grafaiai goes to collect any incapacitated prey.

When Grafaiai Senses Danger, Its Poisonous Saliva Becomes Even More Toxic

This Pokémon specializes in using its poisonous saliva—which changes color depending on what the Pokémon eats—to attack foes by spitting at them or by slashing at them after coating its claws with the saliva. When Grafaiai senses danger, its poison rapidly becomes concentrated, resulting in a potent toxin that, once absorbed, will immobilize a victim for three whole days.

First of all, holy shit nintendo loves letting pokemons sip our life forces

Second, they look super awesome, i love combining psionic powers with forms of technology, in this case weapons and armor.

Third,

So psychic power and energy are the same here, and they are used for it's psychic moves huh? And the mind plate has the essence of psychic energy, hmmmmmm, did nintendo just send even more explicit proof of it for us?

Bonus with the fire energy being implied to be used for the moves as well.

This goes hard.

The sad thing is he'd probably have one appearance in the anime and he'd be completely forgotten

FR, GF really wastes Pokémon. Lol

Yo I absolute know nothing of their stats, yet armarouge became a permanent in my team. I have never had a permanent other than gardavoir so that says a lot.

also if we're being realistic here.

wouldn't sending a child to go out on their own to capture pokemon in the woods and stuff actually be a scary/bad idea. (being realistic here)

considering if your not careful you could die.

IDK if it'll have Pokemon content (Doubtful), but a Nintendo Direct is starting in about 5 minutes!

Their Twitch channel probably also has it.

And the most Pokémon content we got there was Stadium and Stadium 2 getting announced for N64 NSO sometime next year.

Cool.

Well, Pokémon has always done his announcements outside the directs, so very few times we found something new in them. In fact, we had our trailer some days ago. It is more than enough, the games will be out in 2 months after all. For one thing, I'm happy that we finally have a name and a release date for botw2 (now totk?), I know that is completely uncorrelated, but I need to share my happiness about it.

question who's n's real father or it's never revealed.
Apparently, N was an orphan abandoned in the woods and raised by Pokémon, which then was found by Ghetsis, who took him and used him for his plans. Anyway, if we consider also the appearance similarity between them, I wouldn't be surprised if in reality he is really his father and abandoned him in the woods appositely as an experiment to recreate the hero of the legends. If I remember well, Ghetsis said that he permitted only Pokémon hurt by humans to make contact with N, to warp his perception of the world and the relations between humans and Pokémon, making him believe that Pokémon and humans shouldn't stay together.
btw Which pokemon villain is most well written? (best written pokemon villains?)
Honestly, the villains in Pokémon are not very well written. There is Giovanni, but it's more because he is iconic. In fact, his story is pretty generic (which is not necessarily a bad thing). Otherwise, I would say N, but in this case, after knowing his story, is difficult to consider him a villain. So I'll settle with Ghetsis, since he is the reason for which we have N, and because the story of Black and White is the best of all the Pokémon games also thanks to him.
