Pokemon Discussion Thread - Red & Blue arc

Honestly, the villains in Pokémon are not very well written. There is Giovanni, but it's more because he is iconic. In fact, his story is pretty generic (which is not necessarily a bad thing). Otherwise, I would say N, but in this case, after knowing his story, is difficult to consider him a villain. So I'll settle with Ghetsis, since he is the reason for which we have N, and because the story of Black and White is the best of all the Pokémon games also thanks to him.
You definitely just don't know much about Giovanni

Yes, I'm only talking about the games. I don't read the manga, and the anime never added something interesting about him, except for the first movie and radio drama, which gave him a more interesting characterization.

N sounds like one of the paths meowth's development would've taken if he wasn't from the kid anime.

Anyway, i honestly don't know the villains well enough but i'll side with ghetsis

Giovanni, because Fire Red was the first game I played..

Plus he had a realistic goal.......to catch trainer mons and to make money

Rose is the best villain I say
Rose had potential as a character, but was used very badly in SWSH. The entire story of SWSH is bad honestly, good premise, terrible execution. Personal opinion obviously, but I remained pretty disappointed by the game. This is, anyway, a problem of many Pokémon games. The story is rarely good. Game Freak focus too much on creating a game for every age, making them too simple story wise. This is the reason for which Black and White are my favorite Pokémon games, they are the only case where GF dared more, and created a story out of their usual model with a more serious tone and elaborated plot.

Everything will be solved if TPC took Pokémon away from GF

Historically, GF has never really been good at making great games.

Look at little Town Hero... A very meh game

You do know that Game Freak is one of the shareholders of The Pokémon Company, and is one of the owners of the Pokémon copyright?

The Pokémon Company doesn't even own any part of the Pokémon franchise itself and merely manages it for the three actual owners. Game Freak, Nintendo, and Creatures INC. Meanwhile, Nintendo has the trademark on the names of the Pokémon.

Apparently, N was an orphan abandoned in the woods and raised by Pokémon, which then was found by Ghetsis, who took him and used him for his plans. Anyway, if we consider also the appearance similarity between them, I wouldn't be surprised if in reality he is really his father and abandoned him in the woods appositely as an experiment to recreate the hero of the legends. If I remember well, Ghetsis said that he permitted only Pokémon hurt by humans to make contact with N, to warp his perception of the world and the relations between humans and Pokémon, making him believe that Pokémon and humans shouldn't stay together.

i read that ghetsis is a vegetable now.

So he'll die lonely and crazy.

a fitting end for a man like him.

from tv tropes "Fate worse than death"

By the end of it all, the events of two games and his ensuing failures causes Ghetsis to go so insane, he is effectively reduced to a non-functioning, gibbering vegetable.
He's still functioning fine in Masters which takes place after

Well, Masters is a mobile game, not a main game, so whatever he do in Masters is not important. Is even less than an alternative universe, there is no relation with the main games. Rather, we could mention the Ghetsis from Team Rainbow Rocket, who comes from an alternative universe where he won, probably killing us and N.

Pokémon follows MWI, all possible world will be accounted for

So you can say, there's even a world where Ash won against Red

Yes, in fact, TPC cannot take the series of games from Game Freak without his consent, but at the same time, I think that it is also one the main responsible for the bad quality of the games. Since TPC manage all the merchandise, which represents almost the totality of the revenue for the brand, Game Freak is practically forced to follow a strict schedule of release of new games to maintain an active market (new games mean new anime, new Pokémon means new plushies and so on). They need to respect a yearly game release, which makes impossible to produce quality even with big teams of developers. That said, with all the money that they have, and with their sales, they could simply go further adding a few hundred of developers to the team or work jointly with other game developers. But unfortunately they probably never will.

This is by the rules of this website, but not officially. There will never be any mention of events in Pokémon Masters in the main games because they are not correlated at all. Same thing for games like Pokémon Café Mix or Pokémon Quest. We can force the thing if we want here, but their stories, their developer teams and starting concept. This count also for Anime and Manga. If there is no official mention they are not really connected. For example, if you ask Masuda if there is some connection between core games and Masters, his obvious answer will be "Not at all", he probably not even know what they are doing in Masters.

It is canon to the main games though, the pokemon website even puts it in the same series as the main games

Where exactly? The website, as far as I have seen, does not show a subdivision into categories, but simply all the games produced together to attract the visitor's attention. Their interest is to sell games, after all.

It's not canon to the main game nor anime

Red doesn't exist in the anime, and Ash does exist in the Adventures manga

It's likely an alternate universe or something like that

you guys like jazz?

The heck are League Points?

Apparently its movements are explicitly often slower than its reactions?
Also, 1 of its new abilities is just a repurposed "Queenly Majesty".

I wonder which will get more useage? Or will it be overshadowed by Eviolite Girafarig?

I could not find the premiere for this, infuriatingly. Couldn't chat while it was live.

& yeah, so far it seems it's just an official/in-universe VTuber with a "Who's that Pokemon?" for a Pokemon that hasn't been revealed to us.

More interestingly, the loading bar has 7 characters of Pokemon world writing next to it. Could this mean "loading"? Do we have a basis for a cipher?

Bellibolt

Its Belly-Button Dynamo Produces a Huge Amount of Electricity

Bellibolt expands and contracts its elastic body to generate electricity in an organ that looks like a belly button. The huge amount of electricity generated this way is then discharged from the two bumps on either side of its head that resemble eyeballs.
Its actual eyes are adorably small and round, so when it tries to be intimidating, it puts the eyelike bumps to good use.
Bellibolt

Easygoing by Nature, It Doesn’t Notice an Opponent Until Attacked

It is difficult to train Bellibolt to initiate a battle without it being attacked first.
After the sun sets, you can hear strange noises coming from Bellibolt’s habitat. This noise is not Bellibolt’s cries, but a sound emitting from their stomachs–it is known that this sound signals that they are hungry.

New Ability: Electromorphosis

Bellibolt’s Ability, Electromorphosis, is a new Ability appearing for the first time in these titles. Bellibolt becomes charged when hit by an attack, boosting the power of the next Electric-type move it uses.
