I don't understand why you were surprised when I said Pain Arc>DBZ. DBZ seems so boring to me that I started 2 years ago and still haven't finished it. I'm currently in Buu Saga and I still think it's a mid or below mid series.

Note: I didn't watch Naruto or Dragon Ball when I was a kid. I don't have any childhood love for either series.
I watched DB+DBZ as a kid, enjoyed it immensely
watched naruto in 2022

and still have naruto on top
This is either crazy Naruto glazing or DB downplaying
heh
DBZ is a good 7~8 /10 series if you wanna turn off your brain and see people throw hands

Freaking UchihaSlayer96 short on ranking the Akatsuki appeared on my recommendations. I was about to leave a goon message when I saw the meme for Hidan but redeemed yourself with Kisame, but then you hit mid for Konan and Tobi, but then you once again redeemed with White and Black Zetsu meme.

Overall give it an 8 out of 10. Would have been a 10/10 if you included their leader, the Ramen maker.

Yeah, it's excellent. Anime version's great too, though.
Yeah both are nice
The anime scene of that fight is something i’d bring up to defend good choreography of the verse but if i really gotta pick my most preferable, it’ll be the Manga’s. Same thing i love about jjk manga, It’s aesthetically pleasing in a way not related to fine art, you could almost see them move at first glance lol.

No, I agree. I prefer the manga version of that fight too. The anime adaptation was just really well-executed for Itachi vs Sasuke, which isn't always the case.

Kinda crazy that we got Jiraiya vs Pain and Itachi vs Sasuke back to back. We were so spoiled back then lol.

Wanna run something by ya'll.

Do we think Itachi tanked a Chidori here? Mainly cause bro was caught in midair and in the very next panel we see him being sent flying backwards, which wouldn't make much sense if he, like, dodged it or something. It's a weird exchange for sure, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like.....Itachi sorta tanked a Chidori, which is nuts lol.

Is the anime any clearer?

Ehh I don’t know, Sasuke is descending with his Chidori. If it landed why would Itachi be flying upward like that

Uh, no, Sasuke was moving upwards to catch Itachi in the air (after forcing him to jump with a Fireball Jutsu). Look at the panel carefully, he was aiming at the ceiling.

Is clothing being unaffected by Chidori consistent with anything else?

Yes, and that's where my crackpot theory comes into play...... 😈

See, I think he got hit in the face. Notice how his face is totally clean in the first page, and then in the second page it has a bunch of scuff marks?

could be done with his hands, the tanking that is, causing itachi to be sent back and then using hands later for the fire style

That could just be dust. I'm more of the opinion he kicked Sasuke's arm.

Dust that's only placed on one side of his face rather than everywhere on his body?

Also, if he kicked Sasuke's arm, it'd redirect the Chidori downwards or sideways, which doesn't add up with the Chidori hitting its initial target (the ceiling). So idk about that.

Both sides of his face, actually, which is the most exposed part of his body, and we don't see the rest of his body on that page.

hmmm... true. Any chance the chidori exploded without making direct contact with the ceiling?

Ahh I was looking at the ceiling thinking it was the surface of the dome. Like as if they were already outside lol, myb

This is actually true. I missed one side being scuffed. Mb.
and we don't see the rest of his body on that page.
No, we don't. But we do get a decent-ish look at him in the next chapter, and his cloak looked decently clean to me.

Granted, I don't think he 100% had to have taken it to the face. He may have blocked it with his hand and his face just got hit grazed by some of the Chidori's mini lightning branches or some of the debris when he was going through the ceiling. But I feel like he had to have gotten tagged here, at least partially.

You know what's super weird tho? Bro POSSIBLY tanks a Chidori, but gets damaged by a Shuriken lmao. That's wild.
hmmm... true. Any chance the chidori exploded without making direct contact with the ceiling?
That's just not how the Chidori works.

Would the Chidori being disrupted not make it kinda just blow up? I guess that might be more of a Rasengan thing, since Chidori isn't really compressed.
Chidori’s really just a fast thrust covered in lightning chakra so yeah it doesn’t explode.

Rasengan being a ball of spinning energy could tho yeah.

I would say he either blocked it or got hit in the face.

Yeah.... Since we don't actually see the direct hit of Chidori on-screen, I'm a bit wary of it.
It is super whack, I'll admit. But tbf, the Shuriken sorta caught him off-guard. Whereas the Chidori he saw coming and could presumably brace for.
Not saying it's a 100% or anything, but we know how much seeing stuff coming can affect Naruto characters' ability to withstand them sometimes.
Well, Rasengan and Chidori explode on collision, so it has to do with the mix-up I think?
Chidori does explode/cause explosions on occasion, but it's pretty much always when it comes into contact with something (best examples I can think of are the Rasengan-Chidori clashes and Sasuke blowing up the meteor in The Last). As far as I recall, it never happened without the Chidori establishing contact with something.

That's kinda where I'm at as well.

Chidori might explode when it’s in contact with other chakra ig then

Because most of the time it’s just a jab

Rin didn’t explode into a million pieces after Kakashi stabbed her. Neither did Naruto, Gaara’s Sand Shield, etc.

Yeah, and also it's possible that this is something that the user has some level of control over this given what Kakashi says here. So this could be used to square away why sometimes it's just a lightning-enhanced punch/thrust, and other times.....Well, it's shit like this lol.

Susanoo maybe? Idk
