To a lesser extent, both involve some kind of super form. Aang has the Avatar State, where he has greater power & control over the elements, & Captain Planet is the power of the Planeteers' Rings of the 4 Elements & Heart combined & magnified, IIRC.
Although I suppose having common elements (Lol) doesn't necessarily mean they'll synergize.
There's probably some kind of Pokemon/Digimon pair that has commonalities/synergies, but I'm not sure which is best.
