My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Crack theory I think I’ve shared before: One For All can take Quirks too. Thoughts?
Back when the Star and Stripe chapters first came out, me and my dumb brain started thinking of all sorts of "theories" for what could happen. My favorite one was that Shigaraki tried to steal New order but only managed to steal half of it due to quirk fuckery/Star interfering with one of her rule. Star then somehow survived with half of her Quirk and decide to use her last rule to give it to Deku or sth, so now we have Deku and Shigaraki with half of New Order each. Don't ask what was going through my head at the time, even I don't know

Honestly
not the worst crack theory I’ve heard

Hypothetical: Every verse on the wiki now uses the same strict upscaling rules that we use (no multiplier nonsense). Which verse that previously would fodderize Mha is now fair game in a speed equalized match?

IDK what this means. I feel like MHA gets away with more stuff than you guys realize.

He's basically saying other verses get off scot-free with multipliers, but mha very strict about it.

Not saying I agree with him, just clarifying his point.

Yeah lol what's up with these retorts and putting MHA on a pedestal lol
Like MHA literally uses multipliers that benefit several profiles and has the liberty to pick which percentages/multipliers to use or not.

Like there are worse profiles out there that is fostered by the site's general culture but MHA is still benefitting from that to a certain extent like everything else.
We have City Block level Mineta, fyi.

I think it’s like how
Naruto has the akatsuki members state they beat a person with 30% of their power (or was it a third, either or example still stands), and so, they scaled to the respective amount to that value
My Hero has full on names for the percentages and we dont even use them as an “atleast” value (given it increases exponentially, and “atleast” value seems fitting)

I'd bet money that we never so much as get a feat of Mineta punching through a brick wall by the end of the series.
That's why we have his AP as Unkown, no? Honestly Mineta and some character are so lackluster as fighters that i wonder if anything would be affected if we removed them, would save Rusty and Therefir valuable time updating profiles whenever a verse wide upgrade happens

Also, does the justification for Mineta's durability in his first key makes any sense? He seemed to get knocked out by that hit; or does he get back up?

He got back up and eventually finish the race and didn't seem to be that injured so...maybe?

He isn't shown to get knocked out, he was later have shown to have stuck onto Momo and finished the race like that. Being sent flying doesn't mean something knocked you out. He wasn't shown with any massive injuries, a sizable bruise and a nose bleed at most. Though it's possible Momo might've hit him as well.

"Likely: Should be used to list a statistic for a character with some basis, but inconclusive due to the justification being vague or non-definitive. The probability of the justification in question for being reliable should be favourable. This term should be used sparingly.

The bot has 8-B AP and Mineta took that hit without any major injury. I'd say he doesn't scale as if he's equal to it, but his justification isn't vague or non-definitive.

Okay episode came out, it was rather good. Only issue or whatever is that they didn't show Danger Sense activate when the civilians were yelling at him. I feel like that was also an good way of showing just how angry the civilians were, though the visuals did help make up for it.

The voice acting and sound direction are the stars of episode like this, and I'd give them all a pass with flying colors.

Next episode preview showed clips from chapter 328, so we will be ending there. If they'll show Star and Stripe or they'll end it right before is another thing. Season 4 also didn't end with the Dabi confronting Endeavor, instead they skip to show Izuku dreaming about the past lives. So who knows what the last shot will be.

Yeah, I heard the meme of recent Mha chapters starting with a flashback then ending with a cliffhanger that will be explained in the next flashback, don't know how accurate that is since my memories these day is filled with CSM part 2(God I have such a thing for chefs now). I also heard that the last time a non-fighting scene happened outside of a flashback was when All might pulled out a whiteboard to explain the plan for the Final War, can any Mha expert confirm that?

These people should just let the man cook, because you know damn well that the people who complain about the lack of any interesting fights are the same dudes who got hyped when Gentle and Nagant came back, lol.

Literally the past like 3 fights have been happening in real time. The only reason people say “flashback” is because they’re all happening at the same time, so when we swap over it’s in the past for a bit before catching up. This whole war has only been like 30 minutes at best so far, not exactly an easy way to jump across 9 different battlefields in a way that makes sense without having patience.

Like people who were saying Shoto beat Dabi so that entire arc is done, or literally last chapter people were complaining about not seeing Kirishima or Mina, and even people yelling that we were never gonna see Shiketsu students and Horikoshi forgot about Shinso.

It’s literally just impatience.

Me, personally, I just don't see the issue with flashbacks. They're not even 'flashbacks' in the literal sense, as they're only used when we switch from one location to another to catch up with another location's corresponding battle.

Even if this wasn't the case, I still wouldn't have a problem, because the story has been completely GAS so far. Granted, that's been the case since the original War Arc ended, but I feel like we're only getting higher.

Still would've prefer a more satisfactory reunion between All might and Deku after the Dark Deku arc and something regarding Shigaraki's reaction to Twice's death and Compress's capture, but eh doesn't really affect anything that much so who cares 🤷‍♂️

My biggest criticism so far is that Dark Deku's arc should've lasted much longer... but that arc was more of a deconstruction of Deku's flaws, rather than any actual character development, so it doesn't have to be super long. But a couple of extra chapters showing him struggling against the Jailbreakers or even failing to save people, further diminishing his mental health, would've been great.
