MCU Phase 4 General Discussion Thread

Tbh it was pretty obvious that the Time Keepers were indeed BS I really hope we don't get another Mandarin it really does seem like they're building up to Kang the Konqueror as the true "big bad" but only time will tell. As for my personal highlights:

*Yet another death and resurrection for Loki also that end of episode 4 fight scene was PiS party.

*I feel we might be getting an in verse explanation on why the TVA are just humans with godlike tech and why most "variants" are from Earth.

*Also does this mean the hakai sticks don't actually erase you or was Loki the exception? (since I don't want to accept Owen Wilson got hakai'ed).

*Lastly, this was my favorite episode so far thanks the meteor CGI, seeing how truly corrupt the TVA turned out to be and the MCU FINALLY acknowledging Sif on screen for the first time in years (albeit in a memory loop that seems like a less brutal version of Darkseid's Omega Sanction). A 8 1/2 out of ten for me.

Whatever happened to "No more resurrections this time" huh Thanos???

Perhaps the TVA is a cover-up? If Kang really is abducting so-called Variants to make TVA members, then to what end? Sure, he wants to control & optimize the timeline for his conquest, but we've seen that the TVA members are individuals, capable of independent thought, even when their minds haven't gotten magically muddled; Mobius was convinced to betray with only things already in the TVA & words.

If you want an army, free-willed individuals like that aren't going to be optimal soldiers, especially if your cause is something "evil" that they may disagree with.

But if you want to control a timeline, let alone multiple timelines, if you're openly evil, even with subterfuge, you're bound to get individuals, not just traitors among your ranks, but from the timelines you oppress, coming to oppose you.

Ergo, the TVA wouldn't serve if they thought/knew they were working for an evil cause, & even if they did, the timelines you send them after to would eventually start causing problems for you; Even with anti-magic, "sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic", they say, after all.

Hence, the TVA has to be a cover-up. Make those who are problematic for your "Sacred Timeline" into the TVA members, who believe they were created by it, & aren't very important.
But the actual threats? The Nexus Events?

Tell the TVA to bring them here, & "prune" them; It's true that, when they use a timeline pruning/resetting device, it seems to erase/reset things....
But perhaps it is different for people than things, or different inside the TVA than out of it, or different before the timekeepers?

Either way, the purpose seems clear: When you find a serious threat you want to recruit for your ACTUAL evil army, hidden even from your already secret organization, what better way to conceal their recruitment than to erase them?
Maybe in certain circumstances, the "pruned" are actually teleported, to be brainwashed? & from there, they are to become Kang's TRUE evil army.
....Or something.

Of course, there's other possible explanations. Maybe the people we see in the post-credits scene are other Variants on the run, rebelling against The Timekeepers. Maybe they found a way to mimic the technology? Intercept the signal & teleport someone out of their would be erasure-by-pruning? Or a way to fake it appearing to happen?

Or perhaps, probably most implausibly, the system is flawed, & Loki was only killed physically, & his soul was able to be relocated, perhaps into a body? Admittedly, this is far-fetched, & is mostly a half-baked inferrence on my part, based on the dialogue "Is this Hell? Am I dead?" "Not yet. But you will be, unless you come with us."

I will admit, it takes a few leaps in logic to come up with & perhaps even believe this speculation of mine, so I'm very much open to other people's opinions on when we saw Loki get "pruned", seemingly being erased, yet then awaking somewhere else, apparently alive, & seemingly in danger, surrounded by oddly familiar faces who say he should go with them for his safety.

Yeah umm... Crocodile Loki and Loki with a hammer This episode was actually so cool! I have mixed feelings on the time keepers because I feel like if they were real they should've been super powerful and if they weren't real I- would... be confused?

I learned that there is a "mid-season sneak peek" out.

At around 1:26, we can see the USS Eldridge phase in. IRL, it's a USS Eldridge, a Cannon-class destroyer escort, was a ship of the United States Navy named for Lieutenant Commander John Eldridge Jr., a hero of the invasion of the Solomon Islands.
The visual effect for when the ship appears seems similar to that used for the pruning, but in reverse, & it's appearing into a wasteland a ship has no business being in. Loki ends up in a wasteland at the end of episode 4.

BRO that was awesome

Great episode, expected the Time Keepersto be fakes so I wasnt shocked but was happy to be right.

Kinda peeved that Loki struggled in that ending fight but he was overall inconsistent in his fights plus he didnt have his magic whoch he relies heavily on.

I definitely think this is building up to Kang the Conqueror as the next “Big Bad”

Very sad when Owen died but theres hope.

And with that hope comes that ending credit scene, and god damn was that a hype end credit scene especially the old style Loki.

Hasn’t Loki taken out trained soldiers easily before?
How does that make the fight PIS? I'm not sure I'm understanding your point here. TVA workers have been shown to overpower Loki in groups before. This has been shown several times throughout the series.
and plus,
The fight did occur in the "time keeper's chamber" so you'd expect the TVA soldiers that they have placed in that room to be their most elite.

TVA agents are probably somewhat enhanced, at least we'll have to assume so.
It's that or it's PIS, since aren't all the times they overpower Loki times where the plot probably wouldn't progress if they didn't overpower him?
Also, am I mistaken, or doesn't Loki have some spell from Frigga on him to hide his Frost Giant nature, or am I misinformed?

Loki got his ass handed to him by a hillbilly possessed by Sylvie and the random aliens from that planet.
I mean I wouldnt say he was really trying to foght the hillbilly dude due still trying to get Sylvie on his side.

What aliens are you referring to? Cause the ones on the train did not kick his ass, in fact he was pretty casually handling them while drunk before managed to throw him off the train. Or are you referring to another moment?

Loki got his ass handed to him by a hillbilly possessed by Sylvie and the random aliens from that planet.
Probably because he was holding back since he was animate on getting her to show her true face plus it seems like Loki kinda cares for people now idk,you mean when he was drunk and wasn’t serious? And even then he was casually batting them away and they only beat him via bfr

The new suit that has been enhanced with magic from Dr. Strange is being called the "Integrated Suit" while the other is literally just called the "Black and Gold suit"
