Marvel Cinematic Universe: Thor's Sokovia Feat

Thank you Gemmysaur

Right in that gif you can see that miles out from the epicenter where the blast hits, merely a second or so later, buildings are collapsing and the entire city we see is being destroyed.

Then again as seems to be with Thor movies it might just be perspective.

In regards to Tom Brevoort, he also recently said that God Doom was "Omnipotent but not Omniscient".

Frankly, I don't trust a thing that he says most of the time.

But yeah, we should probably close this. It's going nowhere and arguing politics won't do it any good.

Well, though it is outside the original topic (that being Sokovia and Thor's whacking it to nothing), Kkapoios and Wolfman were debating with regards to the Bifrost.

Whether or not that yields anything useable for the character though, idk.

I removed my political posts. Sorry.

Dunno. Your debating with Kkapoios regarding the Bifrost, is it in any way related to Thor or not at all?

Regarding the Sokovia feat boat, seems to me that yet again, it didn't float.

We got on the topic of the Bifrost as I was trying to make a point there are feats that Thor has that are at least near the level of 7-C, and that the Sokovia feat, under the circumstances, isn't that serious of an outlier.

Well, I am uncertain. The Bifrost is likely one of those illogical cases within fiction for which a comparatively very fragile vessel can somehow contain or channel enormously greater amounts of power.

As for Sokovia, it really is massively above everything else that we have seen so far from the Avengers cast members.

At best, we could rate it as "Possibly 7-B via lightning and charge-up time".

However, it depends entirely on what Kkapoios and Matthew think.

Bifrost being capable of lifewiping doesn't affect it's durability. It's like saying a nuclear missile launching site should have 7-B durability.

8-A is fine for Thor.

Firstly that's not at all what I said. I said-as revised by Kkapoios-that the ability for the molecular bonds to remain perfectly stable when that energy is flowing through it is evidence to its durability and the strength of its bonds.

And if a missile had the explosion going off inside it constantly and was able to fly just fine, yes I'd say it's that durable, but that's now how a missile works. The way these two things work are two completely different methods.

I think that I covered that issue earlier.

Not 100% correct, but that's not the excuse to throw physics out the window at the first sign that it disagrees with you.

It's an outlier. Thor is Tier 8 95% of the time.

Just like Thor's Universal feats in the comics have to be thrown out of the window.

The problem here isn't the physics involved, it's the unceartenty behind the bifrost bridge. It's destruction was calced to be around 400 tons of TNT and that's what we use to scale Top tier characters such as Thor, Hulk, Vision, Ultron, Wanda etc.But the other feat of the beam is iffy to say at least. The size of the destroyed part is unknown and though it seems to have a decent size assuming that it is enough to boost their stats to Town or even City level is an overestimation of the feat. Also the beam is a continuous attack so we would have to find how much energy it releases per second while the explosion of the bifrost is a safe calc that makes reasonable or zero assumptions.

I think you're being too hard on the Bifrost feat, not everything can be exact numbers, if you look and see a city of Frost Giants being destroyed in under a second by the beams, then that should be enough to say that, yes, in around a second, there's city-destroying power there. Not everything is so concrete, especially in a movie that deals with the metaphysical.
