Jujutsu Kaisen Discussion Page #1

It's only being compared to Bleach at the moment. Since, y'know, Kubo being the inspiration, and the fact the ending reeks of "I'm gonna let some poor third party shmuck make a light novel that solves every plotline and ties everything together"
Look a LN would still be nice. The manga just won't do it justice

With jjk ended. What are the top ten most powerful characters in jjk?
1.Sukuna
2. Gojo
3-5. Yorozu/Kenny/Yuki
6. Shinjuku Yuta
7-9. Kashimo/Hakari/Uraume
10. Ryu

Honorable mention
Uro
Miguel
Geto
Shinjuku Todo

I'm gonna leave out Maho (Shikigami so don't really want to place it in the list) and Yuji (dude is most hated inverse character here. Not interested in dealing with his haters paragraph spamming for his placement)

Still curious to know what the heck happened with Uro
Or the USA knowing about Cursed Energy
Or Mahito using his Idle Transfiguration to cheat death and not reincarnate
Or Sukuna's finger making a sound in the final panel
Or the conclusion of the big three families
All of this will be answered in Bujutsu Baisen. Staring Bika, the heir to the Zen'in Clan, and the child of Maki and Yuta, with Megumi being his uncle sidekick. Together they will stop the US government from shoving the souls of curse users and cursed spirits into nuclear reactors to make even more powerful energy. Featuring a side-quest in Africa.

In the final arc, a bearded Yuji with cyborg arms will aid them.

But fr, I still have hopes for a "part 2" or at least a big spin-off, especially with that editor's last note

And I doubt that Jump would not try to milk JJK until the last drop
I like to think that Gege intentionally left a lot of things vague or up in the air in case he ever comes back to the manga (or in case Jump forces him to come back)

Wrong as always 🔥

Where Yuji?

Megumi's arsenal honestly would've been top 3 and its insane we will never get to see Barrier-less Shadow domain control spanning across all of Tokyo and creating massive totality shikigamis. This guy has a ct use in domain better than having it be a sure hit, multiple shikigamis to clone, Mahoraga summon if shit gets bad, totality when two die, and then he's got hand to hand. All he needs is rct and larger ce reserve.

Gege is honestly such a fraud for never having Megumi reach his full potential after all the hype. It's probably my biggest gripe with how the series ended

Honestly, I think Full Potential Megumi would just be a boring character in terms of everything except fights. Like, say what you will about the ways he got shafted by the narrative post-Shibuya but at least in the earlier arcs he wound up sticking out as more than just Vaguely Edgy Stoic Badass Deuteragonist #37,410, and a big part of that is the way he was the closest to an "everyman" among the main trio.

Bro’s lack of character development has to be studied

He’s the exact same person he was at the start of the series as he is in the end
Yeah lmao right, and the worst part is that he had plenty of development in the first few arcs, only to basically be factory reset because it was the only way to give him a happy ending in the like 3 chapters Gege had left to resolve his arc. But that could've easily been solved by pacing Shinjuku better and not making 99% of it one giant uninterrupted fight against Sukuna.

Do you mean that he is the everyman in terms of personality? Cause sure he was always the most sane character in the cast (relatively speaking) but him achieving his full potential wouldn't really change that. After all he's been hyped up as this genius of Jujutsu since pretty much the start of the series

Megumi doesn't have to reach his potential to be better. What Gege did was lay down so much and not even explore one aspect of his potential. He instead shifted it to Sukuna, the guy who already had his own arsenal and hype with his ct. This is like if Kishimoto hypes on biju mode and subtly plants cool concepts in Naruto then just gives it all to Minato lmao.

Megumi’s only significance in the story was helping Sukuna find a way past Infinity and beating Reggie. That’s it. No finished DE, no RCT, no awakening, nothing. Complete waste of a character

Bro’s sole purpose in life was to help the main villain kill and get rid of his biggest obstacle, Gojo

Yeah, but I do feel that the way he falls behind a prodigy like Yuji and the general way his accomplishments aren't quite on par with Yuji's is also a part of it.

Our of everyone in the main cast, he's the one who's most often the underdog in any given fight, and I feel like if he became powerful enough that only the top dogs of Jujutsu society can challenge him, he'd lose a part of what makes him compelling.

Yeah, the fact that so many of the Ten Shadows shikigami were only revealed by Sukuna in Megumi's body was pretty dumb. Would it have killed Gege to have him showcase Round Deer and Piercing Ox in the Culling Games? Especially since the first draft of that arc had Megumi as the protagonist.

Like, as it stands Ten Shadows is almost more of a Sukuna technique than a Megumi technique, and Sukuna then loses access to it after his fight with Gojo. Just seems like a waste.

Maki mentioned in 270 how the reincarnated sorcerers are just doing their own thing rn and Yuji and Hana will hunt them down to exorcise their souls from the vessel (which would either kill the body or return the original soul, depending on how submerged the soul is on a case by case basis).
Or the USA knowing about Cursed Energy
Maki mentioned in 270 how they were planning a mission to go and retrieve the curse users kidnapped, but this answer isn't very satisfying given the potential in allowing this to span out into its own entire arc
Or why Mahito is using his Idle Transfiguration to cheat death and not reincarnate
for ***** and giggles, the same reason why Mahito does anything! Fr tho, I think it's fine that his cursed technique allows his soul to exist in a sort of limbo state, and he mentions how he did so since he wanted to talk to Sukuna again before passing on.
Or Sukuna's finger making a sound in the final panel
Do you mean the "creak" sound? That's just the door to its container being opened by someone or something, like a generic pseudo-cliffhanger ending
Or the conclusion of the big three families
Well, the Kamo family is allied with all the main cast (given it's led by Noritoshi Kamo), the last remaining people of the Zenin family are members of the main cast (Maki and Megumi), and the new shadow style school is led by a member of the main cast (Kusakabe), so the Gojo clan (who possess no CT nor allies) will just get steelrolled if they try to go through with their rebellion plan and the main cast can sort of establish peace through implied force just by existing. Hence why in chapter 270 everything seems to be going fine.
