Hot takes thread, safer edition

A few years back I tried to read Knight Run but never actually got past the first chapter.
I know, its a varying amount of the first few chapter for everyone. I hated the series the first time too. But if you sit down and ignore the techno garbage the author used to spam up and down, you will be rewarded massivly, because it just keeps getting more and more intense with every chapter. Its kinda hard to explain why Knight Run is sooo good without spoilering it, but one thing I can say is that the fights are insane

And honest to god, Anne Mayer and Sion Zail are good reasons on their own as to why people should read KR.

I'll check it out when I stop feeling like shit on daily(and finish some other stuff I've been reading/writing), just for you, Witch. Just for you.

Since everyone is talking about Anime rn i'll give my hot takes on video games.

  • Fallout 3 is the best Fallout, yes even above New Vegas and 2.
  • Prey (2017) >>>> Prey (2006)
  • Black Ops 1/2/3 Zombies are some of the best zombie-based games to ever exist.
  • Far Cry 4 is the best Far Cry game, even above 3 imo.
  • InFAMOUS 1 and 2 are both some of the best superhero-based games to ever exist.
  • Prototype 1 is mid as all hell and is carried by the existence of Alex Mercer, Prototype 2 is also a better game compared to Prototype 1 as well.
I'll probably think of more down the line but these are the ones i thought of right now.

I can't even look at you the same way, Deceived.

If we are talking about video games.

Mortal Kombat is, easily the worst of the big modern fighting game franchises.

Street Fighter and Tekken, Soul Calibur absolutely blow it out of the water.

Gacha games are both overhated and underhated at the same time.

People who blindly hate Gacha games for being mobile games and glorified lootboxes have never witnessed into the insane production value and care some of those games get. High profile gacha games are famous for their stellar story, worldbuilding, characters and soundtrack that can easily outperform tripple A games. Comparing them to lootboxes is disingenous, because Gacha games follow a semblance of clarity, in form of draw rates, and consumer protection, in form of pity systems. And most importantly, they dont have the audacity to ask you a tripple aaa title price on top of them.

Equally mindboggling and stupid is the glorification of gacha games and how unregulated they are. Gacha games are basically freely avaiable casinos directly on your phone. The only saving grace is that it can't fuel your addiction directly. Thank god waifu pngs dont pay out money. Gacha addicts getting defensive over people calling gacha gambling is the saddest thing I have seen in a long while.

tldr: Gacha games are perfectly valid and sometimes even really good games. Its still gambling, accept reality

I don't like most modern FPS games.

Maybe I've just fallen out of the genre but shit like Overwatch or Valorant make me gag sometimes ngl.
I heard shit about Valorant.

In fact, I've watched random YouTubers I don't know at all play it, and it was kinda cringe tbh.

I might be watching the wrong videos, though.

From what I've seen Valorant is just an Overwatch clone.
Its a Counterstrike clone first foremost. If you establish a polar end of realistic tactic shooter (Like CSGO) and hero shooters (Overwatch), Valorant would be squarely in the middle.

I mean people can like it but I don't ☠️
From what I've seen, I don't find it to be as bad as Valorant.

Like, some of the videos these YouTubers do for this game make me queasy.

Do you know those Fortnite videos back in the day where the guy or girl YouTuber goes on a "date" with some random Fortnite player?🤢🤮

Those be the kind of videos I be seeing for Valorant, though it's admittedly not as cringe as the Fortnite ones.

Why... Arent you just watching competitive Valorant matches? I think those give you a better gameplay showcase then people dicking around in youtube content matches lmao

Because I wasn't particularly interested in the game to begin with. I just wanted to see what the hype was all about.
