I do not usually have a good overview over when exactly the Chinese New Year happens despite being a Chinese (though I live in Germany) but I still wish a happy new year for everyone with at least some awareness of this rather major Chinese occasion.

It’s based on the Chinese Traditional Lunar Calendar year length, which happens every 354 days. The date varies from year to year on the Gregorian Calendar.

It depends on what context you're saying since many Westerners misinterpret Taiwan's true sovereign status (ofc, I'm not saying it's a part of the PRC either). Though, it's best not to get political in public since that is a very controversial topic.
