the simple explanation to monster with all the evidence so far: the singing is the battles and there is literally no reason why monster would not do what he wants. and as bf's hp goes up against monster his face literally shows pain with an X on one eye and a broken tooth to show that BF is winning the actual battle and the simple explanation is that he beats him in the battle and nothing suggests what you said.

It's just a nickname for the two together. Lemon Monster is a character original to Friday Night Funkin’ that that was called so, which is as bland as "Monster" but more of an actual name instead of a song name about him or a file name, so the name "Lemon Monster" is the best one to use.

That makes sense but I will mention something important in the next paragraph that also has to do with this. For what I can answer here, characters against Boyfriend have not died because of Boyfriend singing better and Xs as eyes don't necessarily mean death. It can mean pain or even inconvenience. Lastly, when was it confirmed that Girlfriend is that strong? It's believable and interesting so providing evidence for it will be nice.
The scan mentioned that Boyfriend resists mind control, and possession is very similar. Boyfriend probably has a resistance to possession without singing being combat anyway, since possession is negation and not something he can fight off. Boyfriend resisting possession probably has to do with the idea that Boyfriend's love is too strong. The scan also mentioned that Boyfriend would die if not loving Girlfriend, so that explains why he gets physically damaged when losing a singing competition. This also helps my point about Tankman, since Boyfriend getting physically damaged because he lost a singing competition makes perfect sense in this game without singing being subliminal combat.

That was my point with Pico, instead of singing being combat, singing was their own way of deciding the result of the awkward situation where Pico was hired to kill someone he liked before.
Lemon Monster appears to be stronger than Boyfriend and the user interface displaying someone completely inaccurate to what is shown is questionable as explained in the third paragraph of this response.
