Eternals: Arishem Scene

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR ETERNALS

As seen in the title, this CRT is about Arishem, the leader of the Celestials in the Eternals movie. Arishem doesn't have a profile yet but I made a blog for him to prepare a profile.

So there's this article from the VFX supervisor for the Eternals movie. The interesting part is about the scene where Arishem reveals the true purpose of the Eternals and Celestials to Sersi, showing her images of the creation of the Universe

In the article, Jelmer Boskma, visual effects supervisor for the movie, explains the sequence is about the Big Bang itself (a fact repeated several times in the interview). One part of the article in particular is pretty interesting:

"We begin with а giаnt bаll of energy in Arishem’s hаnd, which explodes. “OK, now whаt?” it wаs like аfter thаt. We hаve аll of this аntimаtter аnd dаrk mаtter, аnd you cаn see thаt the fаbric of spаce isn’t perfectly smooth, with crevices where mаtter cаn collect аnd grаvitаtionаl pull cаn begin to form…"

The hand moment mentionned is when we see a giant red hand in a complete void of darkness with a ball of energy that generates a massive explosion of energy and shows the birth of celestial bodies and clouds. This moment is confirmed in the article to be the Big Bang and as shown in the interview, the red hand from wich the ball of energy is formed and explodes is Arishem's. This confirms Arishem himself is the one who caused the Big Bang and thus created the Universe. The article also explains the ball of energy contains elements of antimatter and dark matter.
Now, as seen above, Arishem (who, along with the oldest Celestials, is confirmed in the intro text of the movie to be older than the six singularities from wich the Infinity Stones were created) is the one who caused the Big Bang and in the first Guardian of the Galaxies movie, the Collector stated the Big Bang (wich again was directly caused by Arishem) caused the remnants of the singularities to be turned into crystals. This means Arishem created the Infinity Stones himself as a side-effect of the Big Bang.

Note that this can apply to Arishem and Arishem only, as the article specifically indicates he is the one who caused the Big Bang. All other Celestials in the movie are "simply" shown to casually create suns and stars at best so they would be "At least 4-C".

Based on this, Arishem should be 3-A (or Low 2-C) and he should possess Explosion Manipulation, limited Spatial Manipulation, limited Time Manipulation and Antimatter Manipulation as part of his powers.

Agreed though the range should be multi-stellar no? he wasn't within the solar system previously so he has do at least have multi-stellar range to teleport to and away from the solar system

Also shouldn't his intelligence be at least Extraordinary genius for devising and creating not only the celestial seeds and process by which they form but also for creating the Eternals, deviants, and the world forge. He literally knows how to make beings that are intelligent, self sustaining and can evolve and also knows how to take said traits away. Also yeah he did also populate the entire universe from nothingness so there's that, he has extensive knowledge on the creation of planets and stars.

Should be noted with the rest then

The question is should he be 3-A or Low 2-C?

Shouldn't his speed (and that of the Celestials) be Infinite/Immeasurable or somehting since they were able to move in the void before time itself existed?
Okay here's what the wiki says about that

Timeless Voids
Timeless Voids, i.e. areas within a setting that lack time or exist outside of the flow of time, cannot be used to grant Infinite speed. One might be tempted to apply Speed = Distance/Time and say that time equals 0 in this situation, thus moving through this type of void should result in Infinite speed. However, in a Timeless Void, time does not exist, making Time = Not Applicable.

So in short, Time = Nonexistent or Not Applicable and Distance/Time = Undefined and cannot be determined under these conditions.

So basically unknown

I think he should be Low 2-C, since before the Big Bang the universe was a void without space-time

Moving in timeless voids isn't a Speed feat. But I think that would give him Resistance to Void Manipulation

So if we do a list of edits for the blog:

  • Arishem gets Low 2-C for creating the Big Bang, wich in turn created the Infinity Stones
  • He gets Explosion Manipulation, limited Time and Space Manip and Antimatter Manip as new powers (maybe Resistance to Void Manipulation as suggested above)
  • Range gets Universal/Universal+ since he created the Big Bang
  • Speed gets Unknown with the explanation about moving in a timeless void not being a speed feat/usable

I'd say bring in a staff member about this. I'm okay with either 3-A or Low 2-C.

Just stick with At least Relativistic for speed.

Also don't forget that the Marvel101 videos for the Eternals film called the celestial the architects of existence. So it fits with the 2-C and 3-A
The architects of existence stuff is more related to Celestials building blocks of life in general than this but this is still some good support stuff

Neutral on Arishem's rating. However, Celestials are shown creating stars. The creations of stars, blue giants specifically, using mass-energy is a 4-B feat.

I don’t know about the specific of other things that may or may not give them low 2C but the Big Bang feat you talk about is 3A not low 2C
