Dungeons & Divers (RP Thread)

(No problem, we've been inactive for a few weeks anyways so not like much has changed, take your time.)

"Blythe, if your yapping doesn't stop in the next like, 4 seconds, I'm going to kill you." Demiólke rubs her temples to quell the fierce migraine now assaulting her brain. Demiólke looked back in the distance, sniffing out the nearby area for Dakath— she did bolt off without telling him.
"I literally just said that I'd stop~" she giggling again, ordering Chester to aid Demi in sensing out Dakath, crossing her arms in silence.

Chester, the parrot, flew over and landed softly on her shoulder.
"I'm already looking at him miss."
Indeed he was. The moths, clones that had been following the two of them around, remained with Dakath to keep an eye on him while Demi had gone off on her own.

Blue eyes turned to pierce Demi's body, Basil's expression shifting into one of visible frustration. He opened his mouth, as if to speak, before biting the edge of his lip, swiftly getting up to pace around the dead grass.

Blue eyes turned to pierce Demi's body, Basil's expression shifting into one of visible frustration. He opened his mouth, as if to speak, before biting the edge of his lip, swiftly getting up to pace around the dead grass.
"Sshhh, calm down for now..." she rushed to whisper to his ear, "...she gets real real feisty. Just leave it me when it happens, okay...?" before returning to Demi

Basil's gaze shifted to Blythe for a moment. He slowly took a breath, raising two fingers to rub the bridge of his nose. "...For her sake, I hope the dungeon lets us go so easily. I doubt we're the first who wanted to turn tail and run." Basil muttered.

"I can hear you, dickwads." Demi groaned, scratching the back of her neck as her pointed ears twitched. "If you want to stay, feel free to. I'm not gonna drag ya out... if you want to die, be my guest."

"I would appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth, Ms. Demiloke. I just sincerely doubt leaving will be as easy as...what...swimming upward?" Basil said. There was a certain edge to his voice; agitation running thick in his words. He fidgeted with the rope on his side as he spoke, smoothing out bits frayed by the shockwave. "This dungeon doesn't leave survivors, we'll need to tread carefully, even in retreat..."

"......" The demoness glanced back at the blue-eyed man, trailing him up and down with her citrine gaze. "For one, if you've got a better idea, then let's hear it. For two, it's Demiólke. Ól. Not ló."

Basil shifted his hands in his pockets, his gaze meeting her own. "The water exudes a strange calming sensation...simply sinking in it was manageable, but ascending? Unless you can both cover everyone within a barrier and lift us upward, the risk of drowning or exhaustion is high. Especially for those already taxed from the battle." He gestured vaguely towards Neltharion, as if to use the half-dragon's prior display of pain to prove his point. "Instead, Miss Demiólke, we could try to get our bearings, scout out for any...alternate ways up to the door. If nothing else, we could gather materials to set up a camp, if need be."

"....." The demoness sighed, "The Dungeon hole is gonna close soon. If we try and set up camp, we could be trapped down here for an entire day, until it opens again. Maybe even days. And I assume you're aware of that fact... right?"

Dakath dashed back through the cave, carefully following the path that they had taken to get back to the group. "Why did she have to run off like that without warning?! And after I helped save her life..." he thought to himself, coming up on the sign that greeted them where they first started their scouting mission. He rounded the corner, and finally came upon his group...or what was left of it. He instantly took note of the smell of the blood of his former comrade, wincing slightly.

"What...happened here?" the elf asked, slowly approaching Demi.

What...happened here?" the elf asked, slowly approaching Demi.
"...Ask the rest of the squad. I got here after the battle." Says Demi, before awkwardly sighing. "Amalie is... yeah. She didn't make it."

"Which may be necessary." Basil responded flatly. "Would it not be better to take a steady approach, and wait for an opportune moment, instead of ending up like everyone else who ventured in this place thus far?"

"You all almost died after barely a few hours down here. One of us actually DID die. And you want to spend days down here?" Demiólke rubs the bridge of her nose, "I guess we can... leave it up to a vote, excluding Blythe and myself."

"The passing of Amalie was...regrettable." Basil said. There was sympathy in his voice, yet it rang hollow, almost as if he was forcing the sentiment. "We should stick together, going forward. exercise...due caution. Assuming, of course, the group understands my perspective." With that, the man took a few steps back, allowing others to chime in, should they desire.

"Don't tell me I'll have to carry them back to the lift. It takes an hour for us to reach the top as well so we'll probably be too late by then."
"So many questions! Here's another one. How about we go ask the whale? Surely it must know an exit! Even if it doesn't, at least you'll get a new friend after that one just perished... Oh, don't mind me! I'm only a parrot after all! Ack!", the bird said.

Neltharion sighed, an aggravated thing wondering why this was even a debate "I'm going to put it this way: two of us nearly died to that, and one of us did die. We need more people to dungeons dive this place. As far as we stand, we just lost our mage and nearly lost two of us that are melee from the very. First. encounter." She swept a gaze sharper than any sword Basil had ever seen to him

"How many more of those grass monsters have to turn up? We don't have the firepower to fight the basic monsters of this place. You might be able to convince me if we had anything with explosive power, but I blew through damn near all my mana just getting to that thing and living to tell the tale, I physically can't do that again! I'd say we have plenty of information to be recorded for both ourselves and other divers for future."

Basil glared back at her, his features tense. A momentary pause followed, the man inwardly debating whether it was worth attempting to argue the woman down, before he slowly raised his hands, breathing a sigh.

"If I am to be outvoted, let us at least consult this...whale the parrot mentioned. Going up the way we came, regardless of how you feel about staying, is clearly not ideal. Should it have any further information, it would be well worth taking the time to investigate." He said plainly.

Blythe didn't say much listening to the conversation, just doing little dances here and there as they went on with their banter. In her silly little sign language, she said "I can't speak so... I'll stay quiet to Demi won't punish me~"

"I'm surprised they aren't questioning the weird talking animals that just popped up like a bolt from the blue. Not to mention the oil spewing, the bird that spontaneously combusted into flames, stuff disappearing and reappearing out of nowhere,... Maybe they already know about me somehow and are pretending like they don't. That's just a theory though!"

"And risk another attack? I never said we wouldn't come back, I said we don't have the firepower right now. The parrot can go and consult the whale, it at least can fly without using mana." Neltharion rubbed her teple with her shield hand, making sure to stay standing on dead grass the entire time

"I dont have enough mana potions to pull that every fight, Basil. We need someone who can cause a lot of environmental destruction without burning through most of their mana pool. We don't have what we need to do a thorough dungeon dive here, or I would elect to stay. Right now? We need to go back, get at least a couple more party members, one of whom needs to have environmental destruction on their side, then we come back down and at least map out this entire first floor and all you can find in it."

"Neltharion. Miss. The risk of being attacked so soon is incredibly minute. Do you think that grass monster wouldn't have preyed on any other living creature that wandered here? It's a predator. Some species of... carnivorous plant. And the very fact that such a large creature could sustain itself likely means it had very little competition: meaning, aside from that whale, there probably isn't any carnivorous species nearby." Basil said. He rubbed his own temple, his lithe fingers creasing the dark brown flesh.

"And the bird...whatever it is. Can fight, can it not? We shouldn't separate from something that could be a valuable asset. On the very small chance we do get attacked, keeping the group together is what will keep the group alive."

"...Ask the rest of the squad. I got here after the battle." Says Demi, before awkwardly sighing. "Amalie is... yeah. She didn't make it."
“Yeah...I noticed. May she Rest in Peace, I suppose.” He said somberly, sighing as he took another look at what remained of her. He examined the remaining survivors: nearly all of them were battered and exhausted, and definitely not in the position to keep exploring such a dangerous environment.

"If it means anything, I'm in the tactical retreat camp. I've seen enough situations like this to know it ends badly for us if we keep going forward with the dwindling recourses and manpower we have left."

"And the bird...whatever it is. Can fight, can it not? We shouldn't separate from something that could be a valuable asset. On the very small chance we do get attacked, keeping the group together is what will keep the group alive."
"Eh? You mean Chesty?" she asked in sign language — a deeply horrible sign language.

"Dude, why do you have such a hard-on for the Dungeon?? You can barely f*cking walk, dude. Your knees are shaking! Why is 'get out, rest, come back' such a f*cking hot-take for you??" Demiólke exclaimed, the argument beginning to get on her nerves. "Whatever treasure you're after definitely isn't worth all of that...."

Neltharion narrowed her eyes and had to close her eyes for a moment to try and soothe her incoming migraine

"What Demiólke said. I have plenty of supplies with me to keep everyone here alive without hunting or anything for a week. But we cannot fight another of those grass things, or a nastier 'carnivorous species'. Either a mage or an engineer, or something that can get through the damn ground! Also, considering how damn nimble and small 'Chesty' is, I'm not too worried about it if we do elect to do that."

"Do we have an escape plan, or do I chug a mana potion just to launch us up with a chunk of earth?"

“You know what? Fine. FINE. Last I try to reason with you...you..." Basil trailed off, gritting his teeth. "If this little escape attempt fails, the blood is on your hands. Both of you." The man spat, gesturing at Demiólke and Neltharion.

"Then stay down if you don't wanna leave, tweedledum." Demi's expression turned into a mocking scowl, bearing her exceptionally sharp fangs at the dark-skinned man. "Stay down and jerk off in the Dungeon for the rest of time for all anyone here gives a f*ck."

"And what of the blood on your hands if we stayed?" Neltharion remarked quietly to herself, giving a long sigh and shaking her head, reaching into her sack and pulling put a flask filled with a blue liquid... "I think I just about puked last time I drank one of these damn things..." she just stared at it, debating whether or not she should even go for it

"You don't even have a plan. Do you. DO YOU? You think this dungeon is going to let us leave? You think you can just...waltz out of here with a swing in your tail?" The man snarled.

"My guy, its a PLACE. It's... it's not alive!" Exclaims the demoness, "The thing we just fought is a monster you already killed that happened to be part of the environment! It can't let anyone do anything! The dungeon isn't an organism!"

"Both of you, quiet." Neltharion spoke firmly, but a bit quietly, seeming to wince at the volume "Basil, if we stayed, we'd all die. I'd risk the dungeons' wrath in trying to leave and come back fully prepared then just guaranteeing the death of my entire team." She rasped "And Demiólke, it isn't worth it."

Of course, then she had to drink her mana potion. Foul did not even begin to describe it, Neltharion would rather chug down pure alcohol then this crap, but she managed to keep it down through no small amount of mental and physical effort

Basil opened his mouth, before closing it again, seeming to rethink what he was saying at the last moment. When he spoke again, his voice was strained, and quiet. "What I mean is that there is a reason why no one has escaped this 'place'. Do you think we're special? That you're special? Better men and women than us litter these grounds as bones." The man hissed. He took a sharp breath, rubbing the side of his head. "At least. at LEAST ask the whale how to leave. Send the bird for all I care now."

"When are we going to stop fighting? We just lose one member fighting among ourselves won't do us much." He said
