The novelization is well just the Broly movie but in novel format

It goes into deeper detail and explains things like why Freeza survived against Broly for so long. So I would assume so.

I read through the translations and I haven’t seen anything about them fighting in space.

You don't need to eat or drink in the otherworld, and stamina doesn't run out. his hunger was all in his head
