Al Ewing's reply does not disprove his previous statement that he has used the term omniverse to refer to the multiverse. He simply stated that he prefer the term cosmos.
Also, we ignore WoG if it explicitly contradicts what is revealed in the story. This does not disprove it, it simply clarifies what he means.
