They have connections?
Did you think I just put two random characters together in a matchup? 🗿

What are they?
Theory vs Deku: Two fighters who didn't have a prominent father figure growing up, and were bullied during their childhood. They both had one person they looked up to as their idol (John Cena and All Might). Their idols inspired them to overcome adversity and pursue the life they're currently living (Izuku a Pro Hero and Theory a Pro Wrestler). The main trait that separates them is that Theory is an arrogant douche who went the easy way out to defeat his idol who desperately needs to be humbled, and Izuku is a heroic, strong-willed person willing to sacrifice it all in order to save the world. If these two combatants were to duke it out, a great story would be told, as both would most likely be fighting for a great cause (Theory likely to prove that he's the GOAT and Izuku to teach Theory a lesson), and Theory at the end, whether he wins or not, would likely learn a lesson two in being humble and sympathetic for others.

Del Rio vs Lelouch: Two aristocratic, arrogant, selfish pricks who were born into royal bloodlines (Lelouch being the 11th Prince of the Holy Brittannian Empire and son of the 98th Emperor of Britannia Charles zi Britannia, and Del Rio being the son of the legendary Dos Caras, which makes him a part of one of the famous Mexican wrestling families, as well as being a descendant of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella). Seeing these two just being absolutely ruthless to each other in the heat of battle would be a blast to watch.

These explanations probably suck ass but it's the best I can think off the top of my head lol.

Personally, 10s are super elusive and shouldnt be given that frequently. Only if fights go very extremely hard or if the whole package is excellent. GvS1(for being a great effort for early seasons lol), IMvsLex, HulkvsDoomsday, but frankly you could arguably put those to 9 due to research. SnakevsSam might be the only true 10.

Then there are those other good ones which I dont personally care for, DantevsBayo, BalrogvsTJ, JackvsAfro, but even those are at least 9.

If using Awakening only is a fact why a need to cope for it? Unless, using Awakening only is not a fact to begin with.
Honestly it's just a rocky situation about who to please. Not confident casuals will take well to the 'extended FE scaling' situation, and what Death Battle's opinion on canon/alternate versions of the characters is

But FE fans will feel stiffed if episodes are decided by neglecting Heroes or having be a black box "This exists, but due to how we view canon we won't use it" situations. We've been hyped to have a character on the show and to watch one of our characters die and get a black box that says: "Lol, could've won but nah" would sting.

Or worst-case scenario "They would lose with this black box info anyways, so we won't explain why we think that. Better hope you get a QnA for an actual explanation"
Then another problem arise: what about the other Fire Emblem characters? This affects a lot of FE characters in Death Battle. For instance, PMD Kecleon sweeps typical Anna but dies to FEH Anna.
Iffy on Typical Anna since Anna herself is a weird situation, and our profiles on her have been woefully incomplete and could really use updates. There's multiple major Annas we don't have on the wiki who all scale to different feats and have access to different abilities.

Plus with Death Battle's history, a character like Anna would likely be a full Anna composite. Which would be weird if they cut things like (maybe) Warriors and Heroes which have the funny scalings.

FEH, Warriors, Engage, ect stuff are already problematic for FE matchups but Anna's an EXTRA problematic example because she's Anna.

How did I forget this MU???

I got to get into WWE because these MUs are wild.
1. Wait until the purge of the verse gets done with lol.
2. I honestly have no idea how to get someone into WWE. It has such a long history spanning over 5 decades.
3. Most of these thematic matches are massive stomps. The WWE guys don't stand a chance from a realistic standpoint, it's just fun to fantasize about how epic some of these matches would be if they were real.

1. The verse is getting purged? Why?
2. Over 50 years? Wow that's long.

Iirc there was a scene with them making constellations of themselves or something
Yeah. Casually large star to solar system level. Compared to someone who is only a fraction of star level at best. And Chosen Undead vs Last Dragonborn already told us immortality means nothing when power difference is so huge.

It was one of the little pre show events for a major wrestling event iirc. It got posted either in this thread or the DBD somewhere

The answer is simple

Army battle between Anna and Kecleon 😎
...I unironically love that and it's in-character for Warriors Anna and a bloodlusted Kecleon.

I'm so sad that the animation budget would never allow for it. It'd be amazing.
Yes it would be great to watch Warriors Anna, Engage Anna, Heroes Anna (Commander with Spirit and / or Bride) coming if we want composite Anna vs composite Kecleon. And is essential when we want to give Anna a win.

And yes the animation budget can be surprisingly low if they pick the correct sprite sheets or 3D models that fit and match the art styles of each other. I am sure there are existing sprite sheets and 3D models.

Aside from Dr Eggman vs Dr Wily, we have had Ultron vs Sigma and just had Black Adam vs Apocalypse and technically that counts as a small army battle with a focus on the leaders. So a small army battle is actually possible.

I'm all for them. Make Cirno get beaten up and slammed. Make my favorite character get beaten up and slammed.

Most matchups with good similarities are stomps. It's hard to find matches with good themes that is actually hard to debate.
But don't you not think that stomp matches could be considered boring and uninteresting too do, as it just feels like when a matchup like killua vs misaka or to reference an older db mu like Shadow vs Ryuko it's a lol stat stomp episode and when seeing it announced you're just wondering "call me in 2 weeks for the next time" I dunno it's just that stomp matches feel boring.

EDIT: you're right about the difficulty, though death battle definitely favours popularity MU's over others that would be more interesting in the debating and mu scene.

EDIT2: gimme another madara vs aizen to stimulate the debating senses maaaaan :(
