Not really in character + Kurama breaks him out.

Altough even assuming it couldn't, it's not like it's hitting Naruto. Even Juubito could sense Sasuke building up chakra in his eye and Naruto with the same sensory abilities (if not better) couldn't sense Jigens rods. BM Naruto can. So not only should Naruto know to avoid eye contact but he should also know when exactly it's the most dangerous.
