Metal Sonic vs The Lich

Modern Neo Metal Sonic and Low 4-C Lich are used, speed is equalized, SBA otherwise

Anyway, what does the Lich start with?
 
So this is just gearing up to be an incon, isn't it?

Lich doesn't seem like he can really kill Metal, and Metal can't put down Lich for good. Acausality will really only help Metal in remembering what's happened. Does Lich's time reset also include means of incap?
 
I dunno, feels like this is shaping up to be incon since neither can actually put down the other (Metal due to regen, Lich due to time loop). Maybe changing opponents from Lich?
 
Okay, after coming back to this...

What stops Metal Sonic from letting The Lich wail on him until he tires out? If every battle that ends in his favor is reset, and he remembers it due to Acausality Type 1, then it becomes a simple game of attrition. Neo has Eggman's intellect, and even with those ego problems there's literally nothing else he could do. The Lich will eventually tire out, even if it takes a very long time, as he has nothing that Metal can't either resist or adapt to (time loop aside).
