Chainsaw Man discussion thread

Chapter was good but I wish this chapter was the next one instead and instead this chapter was about the global wide consequences of the concept of hearing going away

Felt like there was no stakes here

I'm half convinced Yoshida exists purely to **** with every kind of fan, from lore theorists to shippers to powerscalers to casuals.

Seriously though, what kind of contract does Yoshida and the Octopus Devil have for him to use its power so freely, and why the literal Hell is Octopus so strong?

Also I'm betting that's the Reflection Devil.

Let's not jump to conclusions since the Octopus Devil could momentarily restrain pochita for like a second
Nah, clearly Octopus has Class G Lifting Strength and is Massively Hypersonic+. Next chapter it'll be revealed that Yoshida's contract states he must feed Octopus any pieces of the Gun Devil or similar he finds, and that he had looted Santa Claus's corpse for her piece of Darkness, which is why he was so confident he could kill Fami when they met.

Why does that actually kinda make sense

No she's pure evil. Your intentions don't really mean shit when you groom someone and promise to hunt down any form of happiness they may have.
Makima had good intentions, but the way she went about it was evil. Her actions are pure evil, but her intentions are not. If she truly were pure evil herself, she wouldn't have said this (Her entire motive). And remember, Makima always yearned for a family, similar to how Pochita yearned for a hug or to be loved. Since she was superior to everyone around her, it caused her to be lonely, which is why she ended up the way she was. Makima is more of a broken anti-hero rather than pure evil.

I don't care. As I've said it doesn't matter if she had good intentions, the actions she took are irredeemable and are monstrous. She is pure evil, no if's or but's.

The fact that she had good intentions speaks against what you're trying to claim. You can't cherry pick her characteristics and dumb them down to an evil maniac who has no redeeming qualities or motives (which is pure evil). Learn the difference between actions and intentions, as well as broken and pure evil.

No, I ain't cherry picking anything. I've already said it, but I'll say it again, I just don't care if she had good intentions. That's not me dumbing them down, it's just me who takes actions over words.

Alright, I think Denji is a perverted murderer guys, he is pure evil and has no redeeming qualities, any contentions?
If you're trying to make a point, at least do it not out of spite. We see Denji loath his own actions when it comes to his desires, and he kills either out of self defense or when targeting devils. Makima just kills and uses people without their free will, and makes Denji's life a living hell without remorse. She laughs at it.

My buddy on Discord just brought something up I didn't realize when reading the chapter

How tf did they communicate here if ears are gone???

Good question. Maybe there's another mechanism that allows them to communicate.

But hey, at least it shows that Public Safety isn't completely filled with bums.

Denji literally left a teenager and a bunch of old people in a vehicle to die when he had the ability to save one of them. He is also a huge pervert who only cares about saving the lives of women and leaves males to die in dangerous situations. He only loathes what he does when bad things happen to him. He is selfish and only cares about himself, which is true pure evil.

Makima is also pure evil despite having good intentions and the way she went about things.

This is me being disingenuous.

I would not say that selfishness is pure evil. Which leads me to what I have to say below...

It seems like we have different standards when it comes to what is considered "evil", or "pure evil". I think before we get any further into this, it's just going to be easier to say that we have contrasting mindsets.

Oh yeah, I know, I dount anyone would actually call Denji pure evil otherwise.

Going by the most common defined definition of the phrase "Pure Evil" Makima would not be classified as pure evil, as even she has a moral compass and compassion for set characters (Pochita) as well as a reasonings for doing the things she does.

Hey, I don't like going by that stuff. As I've said, let's just drop it, we each have our own views and shit. Yeah?

He's speaking on a Walkie Talkie

IE with his voice

Not with handsigns, or anything else

Did Fujimoto forgor? 💀
I just assumed that the inner parts are still there, since it's the Ears Devil, not the Hearing Devil, only the skin-flap radio-dishes were deleted. So hearing is still possible, it's just much more difficult- everyone's like snakes basically.
