It doesn't. Chakra doesn't really grant durability from I know, unless you're saying Konohamaru beating the pain path with a rasengan means he had more chakra.

shinobi and other chakra users use chakra to amp all their stats
while their bodies are naturally enhanched passively , their full powers require then to enter "battle mode" who requires chakra control as described in certain novels
