Jujutsu Kaisen Discussion Page #1

you see the difference between the others is that you judged them after everything was said and done and the line of events was clear and that is enough to respect thy opinion.
That’s not the difference. I switch up on the Takaba fight solely because it made the pace better. At that time chapters were trash and Gege just activated automatic pilot to write them.

The event of Todo coming back is what I don’t like. He can one shot Sukuna in the next chapter and I will still stand by what I said. It’s not the subsequent events but the main one, aka Todo coming to the battlefield.
But much like with the precpective shift with takaba you are calling it shit prior to the completion of the line of events that will be Todo+yuji vs sukuna and even prior to translation exactly the same as you did with Takaba V Kenny which turned out to be one of the best fights in the series, which is one silly and two brings me immense hype since that likely means this fight is about to pop off just like takaba V kenny maybe even more so.
As much as I like when you interact and joke with me, please do not act like I’ll switch up regarding everything. I still think Nobara’s death was arguably the worst decision in the manga by far (her come back would take the 1st place). I still think Yuki being wasted against Kenjaku is one of the worst decisions as well, same with Higuruma, as much as I liked his conclusion, I think he had more to show.

Heck, I wouldn’t even switch up on Takaba if the chapters weren’t so awful at the time.

Translations doesn’t matter since they won’t change the fact that Todo came out of nowhere.
also this is the first time I brought up your take on Takaba V kenny to dunk on you, the other time was just a joke when you brought up how the fight was goated about 2 months ago.
I know it’s the first time but in this same occasion here you brought it up a lot of times. There’s an specific reason that I switched up on this fight and Todo coming back doesn’t share the same context.

Like I didn’t even disliked the chapter itself, Todo coming back is what I don’t like. Feels like Gege is making sure that the meme about bringing up someone else to fight alongside Yuji every week is kept alive.

I don’t mind Choso dying, I actually think it took some time for someone to die after Higuruma. I just don’t care enough about JJK characters to feel bad about it (and let’s be honest the leaks were cringe as hell).

eh different taste I suppose cuse I for one love it, its gives off that same feel of shibuya and their showdown with mahito at the end of it all (which maybe forshadowing, the type I am sorta sad about cuse it means todo is going to actually die by the end of this fight which is rather saddening)

yeah nobara coming back needs to be handled really well for it not to stink to high heaven, Yuki could've had more done with her but I wouldn't say she was full on wasted, she could use some more narrative meat on her character bones but she fuffiled her role well, hard disagree for higaruma he was handled well through and through and his death is top notch (better than nanami to be honest, since nanami didn't get much development to be honest).

... thats how conversations work I made a point and focused on it? like yeah I brought it up "multiple times" in the span of 6 sentances, ya know like you would... In an actual conversation?

Every shonen series takes side characters out of the story for an arc or two so that they can focus on other members of the cast before reintroducing them into the story, Gege gave us a believable reason why Todo wouldn't be present and why he would be present in this final arc. Todo was never a main character, him not being there as a focal point pf every arc isn't poor writing, Gege was right to give other side characters the spot light for an arc. It hasn't subtracted from his character, it hasn't subtracted from the other characters, it hasn't subtracted from the overall themes and dynamics of the story, it makes sense the way it happened, it's a coherent story balancing its time amongst its cast in an effective manner. I don't see anything wrong with this.
I agree with this. I’m certainly hyped for Todo’s return myself but my issue is just where was he this whole time? The Shibuya one makes sense because of the timeline of events. Right after Goodwill, Yuji and co go on a mission then Shibuya happens. We even get a reason why Kyoto was late to the party. In this case, Todo disappears after Shibuya then doesn’t show up at all for PP or CG arc then he just waltzes in again now. It feels odd that no one even mentioned him like at all.

give it a sec he just showed up and removed that weird arm thing he had on, we'll probs get an explanation what that is about, but my best guess is that he was out of commission after losing the arm and thought about retiring due to losing his CT and arm but got a prosthetic of some sort probably a cursed tool of some kind.

Todo coming back without build up is not the issue, his appearance in Shibuya also didnt have any build up but it was still peak.

For me the problem is that he appears immediately after Choso's death which makes both moments lose a lot of their impact and the explanation for why he didn't show up earlier is very half assed (though i recognise that can change with the full translation and more chapters)

Even still some of yall are being so reactionary about this shit. I dont think Gege is a writing genius either but we should have learned our lesson by now that judging his decisions too early isnt good (think Takaba vs Kenny)

I mean good point HOWEVER:

this is 10 panels before todo shows up in shibuya

and he showed up exactly 8 panels after choso began to die and actually got some final words in, unlike nobara over there

Meh I'd argue Nobara's "death" had a lot more room to breath.

We see her get hit with IT, then cut too 1.5 chapters of flashbacks, then we spend another half a chapter of Mahito beating down Yuji and then Todo shows up.

In today chap we got like 2 pages between Choso's death and Todo's return

eh fair point her flashback was longer than choso's.

Man I ******* hate this OP, after they used it when Itadori was suffering I lost all my interest.

The first OP is so ******* good tho…

At the rate this is going, I'm worried about One Piece because there are too many characters heading into the last 2 arcs. Hopefully Oda sticks to not killing anyone or at the very least make it make sense.

Has anyone tried calcing the Divine Flame?

Yeah at this rate Hakari likely won’t lose but a victory for him doesn’t seem close at all.

Does that "thermobaric explosive" line help? Also, can Todo's technique work on Maki now that she has no CE? Would his technique evolved/adapted to work on souls or something? Do we hope Maki can tank the Divine Flames?

She ain't tanking that. LMAO
Maki has SSK so Todo can swap the whole thing alongside Maki I guess.

😐
Pretty sure Boogie Woogie (before any potential chnages/growth) would only work on SSK. I can't recall anything of it teleporting anything not containing CE "infused in it"

Well it was clearly shown in the image where Maki and Ino were supposed to be swapped with Crows so I think SSK played some role otherwise Maki just got thick plot armour for surviving flames.

So I wonder: what's Sukuna gonna do now? His stamina's gone, his cursed technique is momentarily suspended, his cursed energy reserves have been depleted, and now he's gonna fight a tag team of Itadori and Todo. What more can be taken out of this battle? What else can be done to raise the stakes? Sure he can possibly get another Black Flash recovery for his stamina, but that seems rather lazy. Only thing left I can think of is if Sukuna activates the Merger, but everyone in the Culling Games has to be killed for that to happen. So is Sukuna gonna do some sort of binding vow or something? I don't know how things will proceed at this point.
