General DC Comics Discussion Thread

That’s just for plot manipulation resistance. It does not actually provide him any Attack Potency enhancement.
Well the current wording on the profile implies it can give Supes 1-A amps.

(Again, I really don't think Superman should have it at all tbh)
Ok
Him knocking out world forger by breaking in 6th dimension.
We have a note on Supe's page about this
Idk the validity of that feat, haven't heard of it before
Calling out inconsistent scaling with comic character's. We pick and choose who we want to be 1-A, if we feel like they aren't, then they are never getting that upgrade
If you have a problem with our scaling make a CRT.

I kept getting a bunch of Gmail notifications on my laptop while I was working, and they were all coming from the VSB General DC Comics thread. I got curious, and it turns out someone wants to revise Superman's Plot Manipulation. Huh, there are still people who think CAS is the Story of Superman?

I guess I'll have to explain once again where Superman's Plot Manipulation actually comes from. CAS doesn't simply alter stories that have been corrupted(evil stories). He's assisted by the very nature of the story itself.

Idk what you are getting at but the self assembling hyperstory was trying to destroy CAS the narrartive and the story was written for him to loose. There is reason writer described Mandrakk as an evil editor.
They both adapt and evolve each other narratively trying to one up eachother in the fight.

It is the story of superman that is the ultimate weapon of monitor against Mandrakk and was described as unstopable and indestructable.

The very idea of what CAS is and did haunts monitors

Cas is not Superman's story. Cas is a robot created after Dax Novu was created and then split into two, and Dax Novu itself was created after the Flaw, where within the Flaw, precisely at its heart, there already existed a "Superman story" which was an indestructible story. Unlike Cas who was damaged beyond repair, Superman's story isnt. Cas is a robot that was meant to protect the flaw with the stories inside it, that revolves around Hero & Crime/villain or good and evil. As well thought robot activated by fusing a two opposite energy of its stories, superman as selfless act Hero(good) and Ultraman as crime(Evil who wants to burn the world)

And there's evil story that wants to destroy this harmony, just like Morrison said that he want to tell about nature of DC story that always homeostatically reset it. With his final crisis event :
Interview 1
Morrison: Yeah, completely. As you know, from the very start of this, it was kind of me trying to do a 'final' statement on DCU superhero comics before I go off and have a rethink. Unmaking the DC Universe to the point of destruction then showing how its own internal rules will work to homeostatically reset it. Superman always saves the day or he's not Superman. It's a self-perpetuating idea. So I wanted to get in everything I felt about that, and I knew it was ambitious, but I actually do think we nailed it.
Interview 2
IGN Comics: You stated that you wanted Final Crisis and Beyond to be about the nature of story itself, and I definitely think you've succeeded in that regard, particularly in Beyond and FC #7. Again, there are so many layers to this, and I'd just like to get your thoughts on a few things I noticed:

First off, you've spoken about the power of story, and the power of the DC Universe in particular, and expressed a certain level of awe at how these creations and these stories outlast their creators significantly. This sentiment seems to play out directly when Zillo Valla faces down Mandrakk's dream of the ultimate void by telling him she found a story in the germ world that's unstoppable and indestructible, about a child rocketed to Earth from a doomed planet. Is that pretty much what you were going for there?

Morrison: Yeah, pretty much. The fact that in the DC Universe there is a story about a genuinely good and moral man who can't be beat, and the fact that the DC Universe exists in the real world means that humanity made up a story about a genuinely moral man who can't be beat.

Mandrakk after Final Crisis superman beyond(after cas broken): "I saw the book of Limbo, the end was all flames and shadow"

Nix : "THIS MULTIVERSE HAS NATURAL DEFENSE none of you could imagine"

What does this mean?

morrison(inside the mind of morrison interview):

A.) "Unmaking DCU to the point of destruction and showing HOW ITS INTERNAL RULES HOMEOSTATICALLY RESET IT. SUPERMAN ALWAYS SAVES THE DAY OR HE'S NOT SUPERMAN, ITS A SELF PERPETUATING IDEA. So I wanted to get in everything I felt about that, and I knew it was ambitious, but I actually do think we nailed it." (Inside the

B.) "In a lot of ways it's yet another twist on this relentless idea of realistic superhero comics, because the 'realism' in this one comes from the reader's acknowledgment that what he holds in his hands is a section of a real, alternate universe of superheroes, living out lives across decades."

The self perpetuating idea of Superman(internal rules of story)causing a "flaw" that contains DC stories to stabilize itself(homeostatically reset it)[Interview 1] This has been going on for a long time, how this story or this multiverse can outlast its own writers[B & Interview 2]. So it doesn't just happen during the final crisis or the final crisis of Superman beyond, this has been happening for a long time how DC stories still exist today.

Final Crisis is how Morrison reveals what's been in his mind, about the nature of DC stories[A], where the self perpetuating idea of Superman are already embedded in real-life humans, especially readers, so he can live through many decades and outlast their writers[B & Interview 2]. So when the reader read Final Crisis that "unmaking DCU to the point of destruction", they will think :

"Oh they will survive like the previous stories that ended with To be continued"

That's why even though Cas is supposed to be the protector expected to be able to overcome threats "instantly" instead, he can't protect the Flaw with himself. As we see, he becomes a punching bag for Mandrakk until he is damaged beyond repair, and this is normal because the story at that time dictates that evil will win & cas also feels that story trying to destroy him. But after many blows, the internal rules of the story begin to stabilize themselves, fixing everything so that Cas also feel it and said "The inexorable logic of living story drives us to its conclusion". After Cas aware of this inexorable logic of stories, cas says "there's something about Stories you should know" and he writes "To be Continued" and says "let them be a warning". He(cas) tells and reminds/warns to monitors that Stories will fix everything to stabilize back to the initial harmony, exactly as prime said as a reader: It will end like the others, with a to be continued, so what does anything matter, they got rebooted and this, he has read superman die in the comic but he always comes back.

Many people misunderstand about living story here. Living story does not mean that cas is a living story, but how Morrison considers DC stories to be alive because it can stabilize itself through its internal rules, which is the self-perpetuating idea of superman that creates an indestructible story (how its internal rules homeostatically reset it). This is what Morrison meant by why DC stories are "living or "organic"

So it should be clear after statement from Cas & nix that Cas didn't change the stories in the final crisis Superman beyond, the story was still corrupted and was stabilizing itself until the end of final crisis #7 how nix uotan said "This multiverse has NATURAL DEFENSE NONE OF YOU COULD IMAGINE" & Monitors are amazed at how this Multiverse can survive.

Again, It's NATURAL DEFENSE of the multiverse who alters the stories, not CAS. It was stated after CAS is broken. As CAS said "there's something about Stories you should know" this all happened because of the nature of the story itself, CAS didn't really protect the flaw by rewriting the story. He was helped by the nature of the story. Where the nature of the story is always "to be continued" with its internal rules that work to stabilize the story itself, which is the self-perpetuating idea of Superman that forms the indestructible story of Superman.

So the conclusion is, cas doesn't rewrite the story, he's assisted by the nature of story(self perpetuating idea of superman)

This is repetitive because IM tired explaining that cas is assisted by the inexorable logic of DC story or nature of DC story(natural defense)not cas himself rewrite the story. That's why he warns to monitors about stories that always to be continued even though he's destroyed beyond repair. But to be continued is an inexorable logic via SELF PERPETUATING IDEA of superman

" He was helped by the nature of the story" Never stated anywhere your headcanon
CAS was fighting the Hyperstory that mandrakk imposed on the verse that is to be return to nothing and end DC as he eat all the stories and narratives.
Saying it was not CAS but stories themselves fighting is so illogical and ignore all the forshadowing and detail regarding the character of Dax nova corruption and safegaourd he left behind to protect against the corruption. Hyperstories are being manipulated here by both CAS and Mandrakk which you are refusing to admit.
CAS is the defence mechanism that Dax novu saw the flaw was sealed by the devine metal that is CAS.

He stated that inexorable logic of living story drives us to its conclusion. And he later warns the monitors about the stories is always be to be continued even though he's the protector is destroyed beyond repair. Because there is natural defense of the multiverse itself, told by nix in the end of final crisis(after FC superman beyond) and Morrison stated that "its INTERNAL RULES HOMEOSTATICALLY RESET IT) cas was never rewrite it lol he just aware of the story grows and try to destroy him, and after that the inexorable logic interfere.

Do you see all the scans?
Sbp prime scan is death metal, its after Final Crisis and the nix uotan one also after final crisis Superman beyond.

So many people really thought that cas is a story of Superman while cas is created after dax novu is splited into two, while dax novu also created after the flaw with story of Superman inside the flaw.

Story of Superman and flaw is already exist before cas or even dax novu

This was said in the regard as they drive the story to its conclusion as Mandrakk was cornered.
CAS literally said with absolute certainity this Hyperstory that is trying to destroy me I have to stop it. You are just bringing you head canon here.
CAS was defence Dax novu left behind and sealed the flaw after his corruption.

Morrison never said "unmaking DCU to the point of destruction and showing HOW Thought Robot homeostatically reset it" but "how its internal rules homeostatically reset it"

This is obviously clear & nix stated that natural defense of the multiverse itself was the one alter the stories (it stated after cas was broken) while cas also warns the stories always be to be continued even though he's destroyed beyond repair, because since the beginning cas don't protect it by himself. He got assisted by nature of story that always to be continued via its INTERNAL RULES that works to homeostatically reset it

Explain why nix telling its natural defense of multiverse. Not cas?

Why Morrison said internal rules that works to homeostatically reset it?

Explain how Morrison feels that stories of DC Outlast their writers even before cas was created in pre crisis

Explain prime telling story will end with a to be continued like they always do while he is a pre crisis reader. And he told this after cas was broken

"We always survive, we always recover, we rebuild, we continue"

How monitors Amazed with the multiverse that always survives. You will say its cas not the natural defense?

While morrison explicitly stated it that "unmaking DCU to the point of destruction, showing how its internal rules homeostatically reset it" and he Amazed that DC story Outlast their writers. Where the Writer in the past doesn't know cas. Because cas isn't the one who protect it but its natural defense that protect it. He got damaged beyond repair but yeah the multiverse still survive death metal and others

Explain cas telling stories always be to be continued after he's broken
Mandrakk here represented the end of DC and all stories at that time. His defeat mark that stories survives and continues including the story of superman.
CAS did not broke immediately after Mandrakk defeat he make his tomb to signify story always continue or move on before going silent.
CAS purpose of being the defence mechanism to protect the multiverse from Mandrakk was served by emboding the story of superman through superman and ultraman fusion which is what Dax Novu saw before his corruption ultimate safegaurd. After that it was no longer needed as it became silent and fusion ended superman and ultraman went into there own universe living there own stories as story of superman continues.

Here it was highly weakened version called Rox Ogama that survived by falling into Dark multiverse and trying regain some of his power, this was nowhere on the threat level he appear as Mandrakk in final crisis.

Cas embodies the indestructable story of superman in his fight against Mandrakk(the fusion of superman and ultraman was used they represent story of superman literally said by Zillo Valla) that how he fight hyperstory imposed by Mandrakk. There is reason Monitors seek out superman and ultraman not just anybody.

It cant get anymore clear than this:
The mystery of the Silent Sentinel(CAS) haunts Monitor, infects the immaculate intelligence with questions, speculations, pestilential, crawling narratives.

Legend takes root... and story, like contagion, spreads unchecked!

Ok. So why are scans of CAS being used to justify Superman having Plot Manipulation?

So it doesn't just happen during the final crisis or the final crisis of Superman beyond, this has been happening for a long time how DC stories still exist today.
Yes, Morrison stated Superman always saves the day. It wouldn't be incorrect to say that Superman always prevails in the end but there is no in-universe evidence of any metaphysical story that protects him.

You said a lot of things about CAS but I don't see even a single scan implying REGULAR Superman has any canonical form of Plot Manipulation.

By implying that Wally could not defeat Superman even with The Speed Force, which is 1A, you are stating that Superman is 1A.

As stated, anyone who is attempting to upgrade Superman in anyway should be focusing on upgrading his speed as pretty much every high tier feat of his from 1938 to the present has been accounted for at this point so there is not much of a possibility for him to be tiered that much higher. Pre-Crisis Superman has dozens of immeasurable speed feats, there must be at least be a handful of immeasurable feats that can be found for Post-Crisis Superman or Rebirth that can be used to change his speed from MFTL+ to Varies, usually MFTL+ up to Immeasurable.
I mean Wally just can't beat Superman, lol. He has numerous statements of immortality, massively outstats Wally in everything except speed, and Wally can't EE him. I don't see a single wincon Wally has other than hoping Superman doesn't turn him into paste frame one.

Barry in his first year as the flash literally dragged ALL OF TIME AND SPACE, THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE, forward into the future in order to defeat the immensely powerful future King Turtle. During The Dark Crisis, along with the rest of the flash family and Doctor light, they reintegrated Multiverse-2 into Multiverse-1.

Un-amped Superman simply doesn’t have feats anywhere near this level which is not surprising as his primary power set is being physically strong which is not conducive to having ultra high tier feats. Superman has no mechanism to grant him Qualitative superiority nor does he have legitimate 1A feats. Literally all of this stuff can be put to rest just by examining the requirements for being 1A. Superman violates every single one.

Superman is a good character, but there are MANY characters stronger than him, both in universe and outside of it. This seems to be something that Superman fans are just incapable of understanding and accepting. Additionally, it appears that many are just upset that Marvel has 1A heralds like Thor and Hulk and want to find contrived reasons they can use to get Superman to 1A.

I don't particularly have any interest in the specific tiers Superman and other DC heralds end up but I do have a question: are there any current plans to remove Superman's Plot Manipulation?

if thor and hulk are outer, superman is. Btw, wally/barry are never beating a serious superman. Dude got off guarded by a bullet POST deep change where he got buffs. Yall need a reminder of who superman is because yall forgot apparently

DC needs work ngl because it's way behind Mahvel

But as of this moment Superman doesn't meet outer per our wiki standards

Maybe there's a few args you can make with enough research and with enough future comics

But as of  NOW Superman is tier 1, the lowest, yes; but still tier 1 which is a step closer than we were before so that's something

There is one with a bunch of research and scans

Doc so long it has a table of contents for each scaling section

Well that just makes it tedious to defend my point, I'm not copy pasting that many words and downloading like 200 pictures

I'm good, oh well I tried. Nevermind then

We have to throw away the idea that Cas is the story of Superman and Cas rewrites the book of Limbo. And learn what the purpose of the final crisis comic.
IGN Comics: You stated that you wanted Final Crisis and Beyond to be about the nature of story itself, and I definitely think you've succeeded in that regard, particularly in Beyond and FC #7.

Morrison: Yeah

Morrison: Yeah, completely. As you know, from the very start of this, it was kind of me trying to do a 'final' statement on DCU superhero comics before I go off and have a rethink. Unmaking the DC Universe to the point of destruction then showing how its own internal rules will work to homeostatically reset it. Superman always saves the day or he's not Superman. It's a self-perpetuating idea. So I wanted to get in everything I felt about that, and I knew it was ambitious, but I actually do think we nailed it.
Morrison wants the final crisis to tell about the nature of the DC multiverse or DC story, where he considers the DC multiverse to be alive/organic because it can stabilize itself through its internal rules, which is the self-perpetuating idea of Superman which acts as the NATURAL DEFENSE OF MULTIVERSE (how its internal rules homeostatically reset it).
IGN Comics: So if you'd go so far as to say the DC Multiverse is as real and as organic as anything, would you say that the story of Superman is its heart?

Morrison: Yeah, totally. Because it all derived from Superman. I mean, I love all the characters, but Superman is just this perfect human pop-culture distillation of a really basic idea. He's a good guy. He loves us. He will not stop in defending us. How beautiful is that? He's like a sci-fi Jesus. He'll never let you down. And only in fiction can that guy actually exist, because real guys will always let you down one way or another. We actually made up an idea that beautiful. That's just cool to me. We made a little paper universe where all of the above is true.
Many people think it's simple by thinking it's a plot manipulation of cas because he's a Superman story. There's no statement saying cas is a story of Superman. He's a robot created after dax novu was splited into two. Dax Novu is creates after flaw, while story of Superman is inside the flaw. Which means flaw/story of Superman is predates cas or even dax novu itself. Cas exist next to flaw. Zillo valla found story of Superman deep within the germs world, while cas depicted to outside of flaw flying next to it. Even in Limbo he stated to be in a higher dimension. Cas isn't a story of Superman

Cas is just created to be a sentinel of flaw, while flaw itself doesn't need it. Flaw has its own NATURAL DEFENSE just as nix uotan stated in the end of final crisis, when mandrakk thought the end of story will be all flames and destroyed because the fall of god (darkseid). But we know the ending of the story is altered because nix saying that Multiverse has its own NATURAL DEFENSE. As Morrison said, when the multiverse begins to change (corrupt) or experience destruction, its internal rules will work to homeostatically reset it. This is what he meant by the nature of DC multiverse and How these multiverse or these stories can lives across decade & outlast their writers.

How the Multiverse & this story can outlast its past writers (when cas(sentinel) wasn't a thing back then in pre crisis)?

Here :
This relentless idea of realistic superhero comics, because the 'realism' in this one comes from the reader's acknowledgment that what he holds in his hands is a section of a real, alternate universe of superheroes, living out lives across decades.
Because of Morrison's statement above, the interviewer asked again to confirm does this sentiment meant to "these multiverse or these stories outlast its past writers?" :

That's a really cool story to learn from, especially when we're under a lot of pressure in the world today from lots of angles. So again, like I said to you earlier, it's the idea of acknowledging a genuine depth of reality to these fictions. It's not the fourth wall, it's not post-modern or meta – I hate those terms because I think they just undermine the simple notion that everything we can experience is real, including dreams and stories. These characters are in here, in the universe with us, and they have s--t to tell us. And that's what I find really exciting. They're real in the sense that you can hold them in your hands and interact with them. They don't need to pretend to live in New York. It's much more real than that – they're actually alive in our hands.
And Morrison confirmed its true. Its all because the internal rules of story(self perpetuating idea of superman) that acts as NATURAL DEFENSE

Remember when Manhattan tried to understand the nature of the multiverse by reshape the Multiverse as other have done. In his experiment, Alan Scott died and did not become a Green Lantern later.

But in every shifting of multiverse he makes, Superman always landed to Earth from Krypton. And see how the Multiverse or reality reshapes itself around superman. This is self perpetuating idea of superman. This is what morrison meant by multiverse is organic that can stabilize themeselves via its internal rules that works to homeostatically reset it.

This Manhattan experiment occurred after thought robot is destroyed beyond repair, but how this Multiverse still able to stabilize themeselves? Because since the beginning the multiverse has its own NATURAL DEFENSE, they doesn't need cas to be a sentinel. That's why cas warns to monitors that Stories will always be to be continued. And the monitor begins to be amazed by the multiverse, and procecced to say this :

as it was ever done, so shall it be done again

Cas warns the monitors after he feel the stories shifting because of its internal rules that force the ending with a to be continued "Inexorable logic of Living story". Cas is just have a 4th awareness that makes him aware of story grows around him, trying to attack the sentinel of multiverse and Destroy it, also the multiverse like mandrakk said here. Cas was meant to handle threat "instantly" but it was false. He become a punching bag. But its normal because the story was against him(corrupted) until its INTERNAL RULES fix it, he feel that the inexorable logic of living story drives us to its conclusion, and he finally begin to put up a fight to mandrakk.

The Nature of the Multiverse is shown again in death metal when the judge of source thought that multiverse is about to be destroyed or reach its ending due to its damage across the very facet of reality & collapse entire system. So they send a chronicler to record the story of the multiverse that about to die.

Chronicler spawns metron, the passive observer of grand story. Chronicler become aware of this nature of multiverse as shown here :

"There is so much "inate power" in this Multiverse. How could it be corrupted to the point of destruction, this is a place of Hero and Villain that should go forever"

This is consistent with the flaw that contain stories revolves around Hero & villain as shown in final crisis

"THIS MULTIVERSE IS REMARKABLE...I HAVE SEEN MANY DIE, BUT THEY ARE RARELY SO COLORFUL. I WISH I COULD LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE BEAUTIFUL CHARACTERS AND THEIR STORIES."

TO EXPLAIN. YOU KNOW THAT I WAS ONCE PART OF A GREAT RACE OF COSMIC BEINGS, SET AGAINST EACH OTHER IN AN ETERNAL STRUGGLE OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL. I WATCHED IT UNFOLD OVER MILLENNIA. I FIND IT RATHER BEAUTIFUL. I EVEN FIND WHAT THIS MULTIVERSE HAS DONE TO YOU BEAUTIFUL. THEN THIS MULTIVERSE IS STILL SERVING ITS FUNCTION, AND IT CANNOT TRULY DIE.

THAT MEANS THAT OUR MULTIVERSE WILL NEVER TRULY DIE. IT WILL LIVE ON. IN STORIES, IN IMAGINATION, WHICH AT A COSMIC SCALE, MAKES IT ALL REAL AGAIN. THE OMNIVERSE IS INFINITE. ITS POTENTIAL, LIMITLESS. IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER, EVEN IF WE ARE FULLY DESTROYED, WE WILL LIVE ON.

HE BELIEVES IN THIS UNIVERSE. HE BELIEVES IN THESE CHARACTERS. AND IN THAT BELIEF, THEY BECOME ETERNAL.

Consistent with the ending of final crisis when mandrakk thought the end of story will be like in the book of Limbo (after cas destroyed). Here's the ending :

WE LIVED THROUGH RAGNAROK AND FOUGHT A GOD. WE SURVIVED THE BITE OF A COSMIC PARASITE. WE LOST GOOD FRIENDS AND SAW WHAT THE WORST IN US COULD DO IF WE LET IT LOOSЕ. AND WE SAW THE BEST TOO. THIS WORLD, THESE HAVE FACED ALIEN INVASIONS, NATURAL DISASTERS, QUAKES IN TIME. AND ALWAYS WE RECOVER... WE REBUILD...WE CONTINUE. EARTH ENDURES.

As it was ever done, so shall it be done again. And monitors Amazed it.

Superboy Prime as reader also said the same thing, the story will end with a to be continued, they always do & similar what cas(after he's broken beyond repair)warns to the monitors which is to be continued.

They're get rebooted, what does anything matter anymore?

The last time Superman had long hair, he died. But who r we kidding even if supes die, he always comes back.

It occurred after thought robot is destroyed when Prime saw that Multiverse is about to be destroyed by TDK.

Which consistent with Morrison statement that this endless idea of superhero comes from reader's acknowledgement that makes these Multiverse lives across decade outlast their past writers :
this relentless idea of realistic superhero comics, because the 'realism' in this one comes from the reader's acknowledgment that what he holds in his hands is a section of a real, alternate universe of superheroes, living out lives across decades.
So it should be clear, cas doesn't rewrite the book of Limbo, he got assisted by the nature of story. The book of Limbo is fully rewriten at the end of final crisis event, not the end FC SB.

Its all because of NATURAL DEFENSE OF MULTIVERSE, internal rules of story (self perpetuating idea of superman). As Manhattan stated that character Superman has an influence to this Multiverse. So everytime existance is attacked, they always survive. While cas the sentinel in this experiment is already broken beyond repair. But cas isn't the story of Superman that protect it. But the character Superman itself that able to make a self perpetuating idea of him that embedded in human(even though some misunderstand it that story of Superman is cas)

The comic has been out for 10 years, but many still say that Cas is the story of Superman rewriting the book of limbo. I don't get it anymore, I'm tired.

I hope staff reject any effort to revised it by saying cas is the one who deserved because he's story of Superman.

Cas is a sentinel of flaw that created after dax novu was created to inspect the flaw. Which means flaw(contain story of Superman) predates cas & even dax novu itself

If CAS is not the Story of Superman, why is CAS being used to justify Superman having Plot Manipulation?

Yes but Morrison's statements are not an indication of Superman's canonical powers. Is there any in-universe evidence of Superman having a metaphysical connection to the narrative?

Why is any of this relevant to regular Superman? You keep saying CAS isn't the Story of Superman yet keep bringing up CAS? For the record, I'm not even necessarily saying that CAS IS the Story of Superman. I'm just confused on how CAS relates to normal Superman's supposed Plot Manipulation.
Do we know the mechanics, timeframe, and other info about Superman's resurrection? If so, those should be added onto the profile.
Its all because of NATURAL DEFENSE OF MULTIVERSE, internal rules of story (self perpetuating idea of superman). As Manhattan stated that character Superman has an influence to this Multiverse. So everytime existance is attacked, they always survive.

Cas got assisted, thats why i put "passive".
