A comment on Reddit that made realize something that honestly should’ve been obvious by now. "God" is basically a reference to everything. Psykorochi, the Homeless Emperor, Sage Centipede, the Ark of the Covenant, and the Garden of Knowledge all pull from the Bible. Then you’ve got the Celestial Gate, the Moon, and centipedes in general from Japanese mythology. Jupiter and the rest of the celestial imagery are clearly from Roman myth. And let’s not forget that underground mural and whatever that's supposed to be referencing. Now we’ve got mythological creatures from Chinese legends popping up, too.
There is also the fact that “God” is straight-up Lovecraftian.
People talking about King’s arrival being foretold in every myth and legend were onto something. It just turns out, it wasn’t about the King at all. It was about "God".
