I'm not in a position to evaluate the actual validity of the accusations, but if they were true, what he's doing would be tantamount to profile manipulations. He's providing false intel in a very serious staff thread, intel that will be argued for and replicated onto profiles, some of which are for fairly notable verses. Doubling down after being caught (if true) would be pretty bad. And I think what Dereck mentions is legitimate, he was not only doubling down but actively goading others to test him on the subject. It's a bad look.Isn't a 1 year ban is a bit too hasty? He doesn't seem to be a troll, although he does seem hardheaded. If there's a way to ban him from translating stuff (maybe from the thread itself), I'd rather that than have him banned from the site for 1 year.
I'd rather you just communicate with Astral off-site, and receive help that way. Requiring that things are vetted by y'all before they're posted, rather than checking on it afterwards to clean things up if necessary.
I might be a bit more sympathetic to that idea if you were able to pick up this violation in the first place, but you were posting on the forum at that time and didn't report it to me. Why would I trust you to catch future issues if you missed this one?
Didn't you proposed 3 Months ban?Does anyone have thoughts on what should be done with Astral's case?
I think Ant suggested 1 month ban and longer thread ban for @Albert-Moriarty777 rather than @Astral_Trinity439The 1 month ban via Antvasima's suggestion with a considerably longer translation thread ban (Up to 3 months) seems reasonable to me.
Bambu suggested 3 months ban.Nvm, there was a lot to read up on and got mixed up. But that's the reason for Albert. A month ban with longer for translations.
What was the ban length proposal for Astral?
Umm so it was bambu.Bambu suggested 3 months ban.
He used his translations after being told not to, (tho I do think wankbreaker needs to clarify somethings as astral used his translations under the assumption that wankbreaker was alright with them) tho yall can do whateverWhat are Astral's infractions more specifically?![]()

@WankbreakerHe used his translations after being told not to, (tho I do think wankbreaker needs to clarify somethings as astral used his translations under the assumption that wankbreaker was alright with them) tho yall can do whatever
You can read reasoning hereI had Ultima to respond to, and the translation helpers in the tl thread seemed busy. However, while linking wankbreaker's post to mine for the tls, I noticed that he had said:
Source
Therefore, I now had a reason to assume he was fine with the other translations, since he said the ones he has translated were all the sections of note, or, all that mainly needed corrections.
Other then this specific set of scans , I either linked wankbreaker's comment in my reply to Ultima, or I gave the raws themselves while telling which part was mtl, as I did with wankbreaker in my reply to him earlier.
And given how rarely Ultima shows up in threads (his last reply was around a month ago if I recall correctly), I think using this reason as simply an emergency measure just so the staff doesn't loose interest again is fine, and thus see no reason for me to get a ban because of this.
I believe that was all, unless I missed something, I may add it later.![]()
Well I... I think it warrants a three month ban. What do the rest of our staff members here think?![]()
(I was being humorous, and non-serious; I still stand by three months, but I know you were asking for replies other than me)Okay. I trust your sense of judgement. I am just concerned that it may be a misunderstanding.![]()
Their translations were previously known to have issues. What are Astral's infractions more specifically?![]()
idk if this counts as interference or something, but just to clarify , wankbreaker had access to all the scans, and said themself that they had checked the links provided by astral, then proceeded to say that the things they had translated were the only things to note ,which astral took to mean that only the ones that were retranslated had noteworthy mistranslations, and that the ones that weren’t,there was nothing wrong with them,Their translations were previously known to have issues.
Because of them doing this many times, we agreed that all their translations would have to be explicitly vetted by translation helpers before they could be used as evidence.
Despite this, they decided to post some that had not been vetted, as they thought Ultima would soon come to evaluate the thread, and they wanted all evidence to be available when that happened, in case Ultima wouldn't be able to check it again for weeks.
After suggesting a ban for this, @Dark_Soul20189 has requested that Astral not be banned off the wiki, so that Astral can help with unwinding their translations from Tensura's profiles. And that Dark would keep watch of their edits to make sure they don't do anything improper.
I think this is unnecessary, as Astral can still help by keeping in contact with Dark off-site. And I think it's risky to let Astral still edit directly without permission, as one of their infractions that led to the translation restriction, was adding a mistranslation to their sandbox they were working on with others, which eventually made its way to the final page.
Astral's initial comment in this thread brought that up, but then went on to say:idk if this counts as interference or something, but just to clarify , wankbreaker had access to all the scans, and said themself that they had checked the links provided by astral, then proceeded to say that the things they had translated were the only things to note ,which astral took to mean that only the ones that were retranslated had noteworthy mistranslations, and that the ones that weren’t,there was nothing wrong with them,

Yes I agree that farther confirmation is needed, it was not that astral just decided to use his translations just cause,he had a reason to assume part of his translations were fine to use, while also linking wankbreakers comment/translation ,now while I am not saying that actions don’t have consequences,I will say that astral didn’t do it with the purpose of deceiving or something like that
I will leave it at that and this will be my last comment
Which, to me, implies that the "of note" idea didn't apply to all of the scans we're talking about. And that for some of them, Astral simply provided the raws and clarified that MTL was used. Which is not sufficient.Other then this specific set of scans , I either linked wankbreaker's comment in my reply to Ultima, or I gave the raws themselves while telling which part was mtl, as I did with wankbreaker in my reply to him earlier.

I translated all scans that seemed to show up on my end, if I missed any, that's an error on my part.
Can you clarify that your comment about that being all there was to note, being in reference to that was all the scans that needed translation? As some of the scans in the Op you didn’t re translate, does that mean they were fine to use? (Was there being nothing more to note mean that the scans that you didn’t retranslate weren’t important enough to note, or that there was nothing to note that was wrong with the ones that you didn’t retranslate)I translated all scans that seemed to show up on my end, if I missed any, that's an error on my part.
however, I did NOT give the users the go-ahead to continue using the MTL for the parts i missed
He probably seems behind on the revisions for R>F standards that Ultima evaluated. But yeah, the way he is expressing it is indeed snarky.I'd like to report @Super_Ascended_Sean_Pazdera on this thread.
For a month Sean has been arguing about same topic with @Definitelynotbatman0110 about Pokemon vs Digimon. He has been generally rude on multiple occasions while showing condescending attitude in his posts. It even has bled into other Pokemon related discussions with claims that are not substantiated well at all with other users. The rude behavior isn't stuck to vs Digimon as well.
This has been going on so long I received a message about this issue and frankly, something should be done.
This is probably a case for warning, but it might be better to thread ban him to avoid further problems.
To add on, I would also like to add that he has been doing this since 2022, even translating Japanese. He then asks someone fluent in Japanese to translate for him a couple of months later. Although, he did say he has been studying Japanese and not to expect too much. I would like to know what the staff thinks about this too.I was busy for a while, but while I still have a chance, I would like to report @Tempestdragon6 for using MTLs in the Official Translation Requests Thread. For example, here is the Translation Request. @Success0906 originally translated the request, and @Tempestdragon6 basically paraphrased it afterward (The last sentence is completely wrong as there is no "I'll let you go" in the translation, even by MTL. Feel free to use Google Translate and DeepL.). Also, 차원 means dimension, not space, and 틈새 means crack, like a gap, not rift. And he screwed up another translation, even starting with the first line (He forgot to translate 꼬리, which translates to the tail of Rakan's mouth in that part of the sentence). But the MTL does not stop there. Here is another request. And here is his response. Here is the response of words the AI made (Ctrl+F the pronunciation, and you can see it is nearly identical to an AI MTL). There are like 5 more? "translations" he made, but I don't want to take up too much space and time. But there is one more post that caught my eyes, literally the cherry on top of this situation. He is not confident in his translations and needs confirmation with his translations.
TBF he was permanently banned for this behavior that he did promise to change.I'd like to report @Super_Ascended_Sean_Pazdera on this thread.

Given you were involved in his permaban, I'd like you to also ping @ProfessorKukui4Life and @Bobsican, as they were too involved in Sean's shenanigans in the past.He probably seems behind on the revisions for R>F standards that Ultima evaluated. While yes, it is possible to miss the MTL rules, I believe if the user was new, they could leave off with a warning but this user has been doing it for almost 3 years. I am with Dereck’s suggestion of a 1 year ban with a minimum of 3 months for 3 years from me. His suggestion of a bare minimum of 1 year ban can sound harsh, but I am fine with that or a mid-ground ban around a 6-8 Month Ban, so around a 7 Month Ban. But this is just me and my suggestion.I'm not a fan of something that harsh. They've seemingly contributed responsibly to the site in other ways, and these infractions were all before the recent crackdown on MTL.
While we definitely did have rules about it before then, I'm aware that it was something people could miss.
So I'd prefer simply giving them a strict warning to not pass off MTLs as text they translated in the future. Or a ban of around one month.
I'm not defending anyone, but man, there is a difference that I think everyone can understand between doing regular translations for 3 years and doing a few translations at long intervals for 3 years.but this user has been doing it for almost 3 years
Could it be that the reason this has gone unnoticed for 3 years is because he has only made a few translations in all that time?the user has been doing this since 2022 and has gone unnoticed
If he has been apart of the forum for 3 years he definitely knows the use of MTL is banned, saying he doesn't would be quite comical. It doesn't matter even if he has done 1 or 2 translations, Knowingly going against the rules is unacceptable. He shouldn't have went out of his way to give MTL translations that too daringly, he didn't request any wiki tl's to look through his translations prior.I'm not defending anyone, but man, there is a difference that I think everyone can understand between doing regular translations for 3 years and doing a few translations at long intervals for 3 years.
Could it be that the reason this has gone unnoticed for 3 years is because he has only made a few translations in all that time?
Consider this, thank you.
