UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE [shiny new] DISCUSSION THEAD

A bit early for that. We don't know how it's going to play out yet.

We can make good ascertations of what will happen, but without confirmation it's just not reliable enough. Same reason why we won't make a Gaster profile until he's actually canonically had an appearance and has more concrete feats that we know he can be scaled to. For example, he most definitely made Deltarune and VERY likely controls the SAVE files in Deltarune, being able to modify, create, or delete them at will, which will likely make Gaster Low 2-C, maybe only with hax, bare minimum in the future, but we don't know the details of any of this, and even saying it's definitely true is a stretch, it's all just "very very likely".
What about kris saves tho?

What NEP would Gaster be

What NEP would Gaster be
I don't think he's going to have it. The implication is that Gaster in Deltarune is different from Gaster in Undertale. The opening theme is literally titled "ANOTHER HIM", and clearly "HIM" is almost objectively referring to Gaster based on all the additional evidence. So, another Gaster.

But if Undertale Gaster is gonna be a thing in Deltarune, probably Type 3.

Also Gaster was never said to be forgotten. There are implications that people might have forgotten him, but it's largely unconfirmed and there are some things that contradict it. The simple fact that no one talks about him is made up for by the fact that, like, Undertale characters don't just randomly go and expose a bunch of stuff for no reason. For example, we know that Asgore is aware of time manipulation, he literally just doesn't care and it's not treated as a big deal to him. Furthermore, Gaster is a big secret to Undertale, Toby Fox wouldn't put him anywhere on the forefront of the game, like regular dialogue, at all.

The biggest implication is Goner Kid talking about how, even if you didn't exist and no one remembered you, the world wouldn't change at all. But that's still only a possible implication.

Frisk being kris is the biggest update we had this year
And it explains... kinda a lot.

Furthermore, let's keep in mind that in the Nintendo Switch (or was it PS4?) version of Undertale, we straight up read the name Suzy from Clam Girl, whose interactions foreshadowed the release of Deltarune, implying that in Undertale, Susie's name is spelled Suzy. So like yeah.

Btw no one talks about it at all but another thing that some might consider "evidence" for the Sans Undertale=Sans Deltarune theory is that the same exact theme titled "sans." plays in Deltarune, just as it were in Undertale, in addition to him having the exact same sprite.

It would be minor, but like...it's Toby Fox. TOBY FOX. One of the greatest video game musicians of the generation. For him to just reuse the theme like that is very uncharacteristic of Toby unless it were for a reason. Sans is literally the only seen character that has not changed between the games at all, and the whole "XD HE TOO LAZY1!" idea just doesn't explain that properly. The other characters are also very different despite having the same personality. It doesn't feel like a gag to me at all.

I find jevil's giant scythe calculation quite wrong...as in, why would a pillar of energy be directly labelled as an explosion? Should've used air dispersion for that one.

I think is the "least wrong" way to approach it. Plus the air dispersion was already attempted for Sans and rejected.

That's because we don't know whether his soul dura neg attacks even disperse air to begin with according to the latest news.
The soul negging attacks are only because of the KARMA effect which in inflicted from his attacks, heck on Sans' profile we have even a KE attack for the bones,

* Fate finds a way.

She's Gaster's creation after all.
She knows more than we do.

But a question remains. Who tf is Riverman? He knows a lot, he knows about a man who came from a different world(either Everyman or Sans) and the man who talks with hands. He even knows what day is it to YOU personally.

And by the way, So Sorry isn't from UT world lore-wise.
"He's in a wrong time and space!'
Which expands UT multiverse I guess.

More Sans's evidence is that he wants to come back, and not to the surface.
And after ClamGirl dialogue, something changes in the workshop.

AND BY THE WAY.
After pacifist, Sans places photo from the end, which wasn't even taken yet. Is it time travel?

Oh also shouldn't forget Toby's old Tweet. "You've all seen the happiest outcome. Neither of them could fix the machine, no matter how hard they tried, no one can.".

I have prolly something to argue Info Type 2 for the verse, but I am a bit unsure.

And yes I talk about the Hacker Ending and Chara deleting the files.

Dunno man add even more details like Gaster stuff I guess

Ngl this is pretty minor but I kind of want Chara's page to be renamed to the fallen child cause "Chara" being the true name is more so a reference to the fact that the Fallen child and Frisk's sprites are named "truechara" and "mainchara" in the files respectively.

My problem with your proposal is that even Frisk is technically "the fallen child".
Fallen human would probably work better then.
I mean one could argue that just a generic placeholder name but this is Undertale so it might not be a coincidence.

I feel like the fallen human name should be something like:

Name: Unknown (Name in-game varies depending on what the player chooses to name them, although the name "Chara" shows up in empty save files and is said to be the "true name")

This is genuinely a very weird nitpick. In lots of RPGs like Pokémon the MCs don't have a "canon" name, yet the official sources are forced to give them one in order to make differences, same with others like EarthBound or Chrono where the playable ones have placeholder names in the datas in case the player don't know how to name them.

We just use the placeholder names which are given officially because that's the closest thing we have.
