God of War: Ragnarok Discussion Thread

LOL nah. GoW3 Beginning Kratos gapes Poseidon.

Remember, there's a 6 day gap between GoW2 and GoW3. GoW3 Kratos is effectively fighting GoW2 Poseidon and Hades, GoW3 Kratos having just recently tangoed with GoW2 Zeus who could literally one-shot both Hades and Poseidon standing on the same spot.
Nah he needed Gaia help to yeet Poseidon out of his water form 🤓

Sadly
Poseidon ~> Gow 3 Kratos without Gaia helps >~ Gow 2 Zeus > Gow 1 Zeus
You joke but I've legit seen people think this.

At absolute worst, Kratos was just weaker than Zeus and won via cunning and combat experience. There is no world where Zeus is weaker than anyone in the Greek World bar maybe Kratos.

Kratos takes several chops to chop down a tree in GOW 2018. Zeus effortlessly scales above Gaia, who is a bunch of rocks, earth, and trees. Zeus > Kratos

Not really, even in the main prophecy after fusing with Sinmara he was destined to destroy only Asgard as Groa had lied about it anyway.
Interesting. Doesn't the artbook state that them bonding would cause the destruction of the nine realms though? Or is that just in reference to Groa's lie?

They're certainly capable of annihilating the Nine Realms. It's their purpose and instinct that has them destroy Asgard alone.

Prolly was the original development plan before the Groa plot twist was conceived. They still carry the power to do so, just that their main target was shifted to Asgard instead, if violently shaking the tree to its roots after taking out its branch is anything to go by.

How does Ares scale to Poseidon and Hades if it's stated that no god can stand up to the Brother Kings?
He doesn't, at least in his present state. He'd have eventually grown to be a threat to Poseidon and is generally lumped together with them as the strongest gods on Olympus, but he's objectively weaker than them. But he somewhat backscales which makes it tricky.

Personally, I'd just put him as >>> 5 unis than anything else, rather than 9.

why even scale any of the brother kings except Zeus to anything in norse pantheon
The fact that we have developer confirmation of Thor being on the level of Poseidon. And that a Kratos that's objectively only comparable to his old self prior to absorbing Hades' soul soundly beats him.

That reminds me, Kratos with his GoW powers from Blade of Olympus is capable of scrapping with Zeus, although there also the Titan powerups and innate power somewhat aiding in that.

Also don't forget Kratos is weak and would lose to every God if he didn't have his equipment.

I honestly interpret this as the God of War's powers supplementing his innate reactive evolution to do so rather than it being the powers themselves allowing him to hold his own.

@KLOL506 @Planck69 Quick question, is there anything regarding the fact that Tale of Morpheus says that they "represent abstract concepts?" Because that's what people are saying, and I kind of want to see if there's a debunk for it.

I mean he does fight alone against Zeus+Blade, so there is that.

I did not understand anything you said.

I'm just curious if there's a debunk to people saying that it's just a "representation"
Oh that.
Pffft that's so simple.
Just because you are called a representation doesn't mean your are AE2 and just because you are called concept doesn't automatically mean you are AE1. Fiction often used both exchangaebly, so that in it's own is insufficient.
It's the entire context behind a character which determines that.
We don't even need that statement probably tbh, because we are literally shown Primordials as these big elemental beings who created the stuff they pertain to, in a void before creation no less when nothing but them existed. There was no concept there to represent but pure nothingness, any concepts you see are well just the primordials themselves.
