God of War: Ragnarok Discussion Thread

He is moreso Impossible to kill so he would eat any hax in the norse verse besides curse negation hax

Unsure If the rule applies to greek gods cus iirc we don't even know if freya cursed baldur after or before greek fall

Freya was the one who told Kratos and Mimir that they lose their abilities due to the different nature of the dimensions. So I strongly doubt she'd be accounting for that, and she doesn't even know about Poseidon, his Hippocampi and the Norns.

I thought it was cuz of what happened to the greek lands
Also oh yeah we also don't know how much freya knows about greek gods if she does like odin and Thor (odin likely don't know everything about Them too tho and Thor definitelly doesn't)

As for Norse Hax, maybe to an extent. But Kratos snapping his neck and him briefly dying suggests it's not indestructibility, but advanced immortality/resurrection.

So I guess he could have limited resistances to some death-based shit.

Quite a few Norse Gods were parallels to Kratos at various stages of his life. Baldur mirrored during his quest of vengeance against Ares for taking a core part of his life away, Thor mirrored a mix of Kratos as he served Ares and afterwards when he served the gods and committed atrocities in their names. Freya mirrored his grief after losing his child and the rage that resulted from that as well as his betrayal by Zeus, stripping of his powers and godhood, and destruction of his homeland.

Wonder if another pantheon will give us a mirror character that's like the one we have right prior to his battle with Zeus. A god whose power and destructive capacity has surpassed all in his world but has no sense of empathy left for anyone at all.

I can't quite think of anyone like that for other pantheons (closest I can get is Sun Wukong and he wasn't an outright emotionless destroyer so he doesn't fit either) but then again, they could just buff an existing god or monster. Would be cool to see a threat that forces Kratos to amass power for the first time since Zeus. Only this time to protect rather than destroy.

Apparently gow 3 is at least 150 years before gow 4 going by wiki
Baldur was born a 145 years before gow 4
If is true then baldur was cursed when every greek god besides athena and Kratos were death

I mean, regardless of this, we have no reason to assume that Freya's curse is so powerful it applies to all of Creation. Especially with the magic itself being tied to the land its native to and dependent on said land.

I mean realistically besides the hax that neg curses and ig hades soul Absortion Likely not many hax would be able to kill him anyways at least from what i remember

I think Thor being bassically Kratos if he was never brave enough to get revenge on his father (well after Kratos talk no jutsu as well but he did but still) is more fitting imo
Now that i think about it
Baldur is also Pretty much greek kratos who never got to get his revenge

Didn't have a new game+ while the other games before it did.
It has a pseudo new game mode...
It allows usage of goldy possession but no weapons and items. I guess because it might break level design acc to Devs ..... strange.

Although there was a bug on PS3 version which allowed proper new game mode via some shenanigans which confuses Arena menu.

Exactly. I honestly think it fits the direction and style of the series overall. Just smarter AI that fights just like you, dodges, parries, blocks, magic attacks etc. And not just doing the same things over and over would be great.

I'm playing Bloodborne for the first time in a few years, and Father Gascoigne is one of my favorite bosses in the game and across all gaming, honestly for this very reason.

And a horror themed Lovecraft GOW is my ******* dream.

Imagine the monsters.
Greek Mythology actually exist in Lovecraft

Having the Nemean Cestus from the start would lead to very weird progression. Since like, you could break the Chain of Olympus pre-Hades fight or smth.

Oh yeah, it does. Mostly to show how powerful the Outer Gods were like in the story Hypnos. Funny that he might be the most powerful Greek God on site (well, unless WoD proves me wrong or smth).

Yggdrasil is fodder, Nidhogg can chew through its roots, Thor put a big-ass splinter into the tree (Kratos beat the former two), Surtr took out a branch in a suicide attack with his sword, Zeus would collectively turn the tree into kindling for a Norse pyre.
so that would imply Zeus able to affect NEP 1

Why does it even have Nonexistent Physiology anyway?
I have no clue TBF. But this is the scan currently use for that.

How did kratos still have blades of chaos. I thought every single Greek weapon he had were destroyed during battle with Zeus?

also is Greece still a hell hole?

Another thing I heard the blacksmiths saying they can’t seem to understand Greek weaponry when they are improving your blade of chaos. If they can’t understand it how are they able to improve it.

Blades of Exile and Boots of Hermes survived. Blades of Chaos weren't on him at the time. Ares took them away in GOW1, so Athena gave Kratos replacement Blades, the Blades of Athena, which inevitably falls into the Styx and gets corroded to shit, only for higher-dimensional Athena to come back and reforge the blades as the Blades of Exile.

also is Greece still a hell hole?
No, it recovered after Kratos's rampage as seen on the vase that Kratos intentionally drops in 2018.

It's not that they don't understand how to improve it, it's just that Brok was jealous of the craftsmanship of the Blades being on another level compared to the Mjolnir and the Leviathan Axe that he and Sindri made together, he constantly pesters Kratos to tell him who made the Blades (An answer he unfortunately never got).

so the Greeks are living happier right now because no gods.

though I am curious, if kratos never fought Artemis nor Morpheus do we assume they survived what happened after Zeus’s death?

Not exactly, they're living happier because Kratos sacrificed himself to give the Power of Hope to mankind.

Nobody knows what happened to them TBF.

well I’m glad kratos gave them hope.

So after reading it a bit more about how Norse and Greek are separate universes.

does that mean basically each countries mythologies would be separate universes if we do it this way and considering how many mythologies exist there would be a lot of universes

Power of hope > fear which gave a considerate amp to zeus so rn random greeka With poh are the strongest in thd verse🤓

Yes.

The mythologies are essentially their own separate multiverses in an even greater collective universe.

This also includes Abrahamic religions (Like Christianity and Islam) and other Indian religions like Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism.
