A thread where we talk about what powers and abilities should be added, removed, or modified and the like.

It originally was a pet project of SomebodyData but now its more of a community thing, so here is part 3. Discuss!

Previous thread: https://vsbattles.com/vsbattles/2957033

No u

Ok. So this might be a bigger one due to seeing it on a lot of pages. But

Optional Equipment. Since sometimes characters share weapons, or it's standardness is debatable and put in an optional equipment category. What's your thoughts?

Don't think is up to this thread to tell if we create that oir not; honestly a find it unnecessary, as people will just list it in Standard Equipment, if is an uncommon artifact/weapon then it should be noted.

Btw, what are the current suggestions? That way we can put them in OP and keep track of the thread better.

im still researching dark energy, and dark matter

but i think i thought of another one. what about pressure manipulation? the ability to manipulate the value of pressure in the envoriement. ????

ah i see. it would be hard to tell the difference between the 3 unless stated somehow, or the difference is made clear.

What was the conclusion on Ink and Oil manipulation? (Or them sharing a page since Ink is an oil)

And as well Reconstruction (or Regressiing as someone called it)

There hasn't been any conclusion yet, I guess I can list the current suggestions that I remember:

  • Oil/Ink Manipulation
  • Dark Matter Manipulation
  • Regression/Reconstruction
Those are the ones I remember. Personal suggestion would be to: create Organic Manipulation to cover Ink/Oil Manipulation (and several others); Dark Matter seems to share attributes with the suggested Cosmic Manipulation, if if created I rather create Cosmic Manipulation and use Dark Matter as one application; iirc, Regression can be considered Biological Manipulation (Devolution) or Time Manipulation (Reverting to the point of time it was fine), although I think the "revert the object/being to a previous state" could fall under the previously suggested Status Manipulation.

Organic Manipulation sounds like it would be best. (What else specifically though should I have in the page that it covers other than Oil and ink?)

And I'm not entirely certain on Status Manipulation covering it. Though I'm not against it either. If that's what y'all say. I'll go with it.

The other suggestion was Liquid Manipulation, but then would need to create Solid, Gas and Plasma Manipulation... then one would suggest creating Matter State Manipulation to cover all of them... and at the end it would be "we should have left it on Matter Manipulation".

It's really hard, because there can be a description for everything as a unique power.

Can we have a section of, like...

Ok, lemme make a blog...?

Alright, I can't make a blog. But what I was thinking is, have a list of associated powers at the bottom of every broad power thing, so we cover it, and it can be used to link back to when we use one of those specific powers.

Like, Liquid Manipulation would link to Matter Manipulation, and be in a little blurb there.

btw Dark matter, and dark energy are separate things, but both could be a type of manipulation.. although they are a class of "matter" so they could be edited into the matter manipulation page????

Didn't someone said it was "quite" matter, or was just confused for Antimatter?

I... Feel like certain powers need their own pages. Maybe a page where there's powers that have nowhere else to go also, like Pressure Manipulation, Which would only be so if it's explicitly the control of... Pressure.

With organic manipulation. That could get rid of Blood Manipulation and simply fuse the pages. Something like this

Organic Manipulation is the ability to manipulate and control anything organic, including but not limited to Oil, Gasoline, ink, blood, flesh, and anything organic.

Users
Ect.

Think that could work?

Well, I would say that there would be a tab before users, and remove the examples to avoid redundancy.

Associated powers: Blood Manipulation Gasoline Manipulation Ink Manipulation Skin Manipulation

Similar/Possibly connected powers: (these are ones that already have pages or deserve any) Life Manipulation Body Manipulation

Users: Etc.

Someone just go through superpower wiki and get back to these threads with a list.

Blood Manipulation is more Biological Manipulation, as is something that only living beings have.

Imperceivable Existance would fall under Nonexistent Physiology.

One aspect of Dark energy ( not dark matter theya reseparate) is that it drives apart matter. From a surface level Dark energy is accelerated spatial expansion so basically distance/spatial manipulation on a surface level that is. Dark matter adds mass to objects.

what if the being is existing and is not "Non existence" similar to how souls cannot be percieved by living beings as an example? Or how Higher dimensional beigns cannot be percieved by a lower dimensional one is another. perhaps even an ability that simple makes one not be perceived by any other person?

Ahh. I see. Removing blood from that though. Would it work like a page then. So it covers the organic stuff and a powers into one

Welp, I interprete one of the uses of NEP as "not existing to other senses", although is not covered in our page; lower dimensional beings can perceive higher ones, but in a different way (something something flatland story). I guess Imperceptibility could be a thing, it would involve Invisibility.

Invisibility, Inaudibility, Inodorosity, Unnoticeability, Unnotability, hiding from those that can the mind, life-force, magic, etc. A bunch of power could be covered, although it could become pretty estrict.

One application of "Dark Energy" manipulation is that it can completely negate energy manipulation. in fact, any energy type attack would strengthen Dark Energy manipulation type attacks. Dark energy causes regular energy to get stretched as it's causing space to expand therefore weakening its affects while strengthening Dark Energy affects since its causing a negative work which is needed to make more dark energy. As regular energy is stretched it creates negative work which negative work creates more dark energy.

"Work, in physics, is when you apply a force to an object in the same direction as the distance it moves; this adds energy to the system. If the direction is opposite, you do negative work; this subtracts energy from the system. A good analogy is to think of gas. What happens if you heat up (add energy to) that gas? The molecules inside move faster as they gain energy, meaning they increase their speed, and they spread out to take up more space more quickly. But what happens, instead, if you heat up gas that's enclosed in a container? Yes, the molecules heat up, they move faster, and they try to spread out, but in this case, they often run into the walls of the container, creating an extra positive pressure on the walls. The container's walls are pushed outward, which costs energy: the molecules are doing work on it! This is very, very analogous to what happens in the expanding Universe. If your Universe were filled with radiation (photons), each quantum would have an energy, given by a wavelength, and as the Universe expands, that photon wavelength gets stretched. Sure, the photons are losing energy, but there is work being done on the Universe itself by everything with a pressure inside of it! Conversely, if your Universe were filled with dark energy, it also has not only an energy density, but a pressure, too. The big difference, though, is that the pressure from dark energy is negative, which means we have the opposite situation we had for radiation. As the container's walls expand, they're doing work on the fabric of space itself!

So where does the energy for dark energy come from? It comes from the negative work done on the expansion of the Universe itself. There was a paper written in 1992 by Carroll, Press, and Turner, which dealt with this exact issue. In it, they state: …the patch does negative work on its surroundings, because it has negative pressure. Assuming the patch expands adiabatically, one may equate this negative work to the increase of mass/energy of the patch. One thereby recovers the correct equation of state for dark energy: P = ― ¤üc2. So the mathematics is consistent."

The copy pasta is from the last few paragraphs on this articles. https://www.forbes.com/sites/starts...nergy-for-dark-energy-come-from/#e9ccb0a1268d

Edit: it can also be used to counteract gravity manipulation [http://[https://www.space.com/20929-dark-energy.html

I'd like to suggest Waterwalking as an ability that could get a page.

I'll make an example profile of it later on and post it here.

I am proposing Damage Replication. The characters still take damage, has a Regenerationn to negated it effects in the long term, and replicated all the damages taken to the opponent.

It is based on this text: Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken WN: Chapter 180
The special ability to replicate damage that she has taken onto her attacker, such was Espirit's unique skill『Retaliator』.
The incredible amount of damage that had been caused onto a demon's body.
A human's body would never be able to take that much punishment.
Flesh was sundered and bones were crushed.
The moment Espirit activated her special ability, Gardner was turned into a pile of meat without the chance to even speak.

Does self-repair exist for armors and equipment? for items that can restore themselves/repair themselves? Like a regen for inanimate objects?? im in a bad spot where i can't check atm.
