First, fate value is a thing in ID and its a protection given by Fate itself, such things allows the user to avoid dreadful situations, death and defeat so long your fate value is high. Vahanato could oneshot and haxstomp Rick yet he couldnt win because of Fate (and this was stated). Likewise, Yogiri (avatar) possess a fate value bigger than anyone else, which even lacks the weakness of "your death needing to be interesting" or Aoi bypassing the fate value with her own plot/fatehax.
