walter is smarter and has more fighting experience, stealth mastery and genius intelligence also allow him to use the darkness to his advantage. however capybara is faster and can probably just run away, turn around, and slam into walt with the force of one capybara (street level)

It can be fixed I think, but they are fast.
Slow-movement probably means that they don't have that much agility in encounters.

walt probably has the stamina advantage. capybaras can run for unspecified periods but walter chased a fly for 24 hours and covered a fairly long distance after taking a bullet from an m60 machine gun which had instantly killed several other people

when i put it like this it seems like a fairly decisive win for walter, but i still don’t really see how he’d win

He has at least average human fighting skill which is enough to outsmart a capybara. Walter can grab a nearby item and stuff the capybara in it and suffocate it to death

oh and using close combat on an animal is useless since this isn't a fist fight but a fight on whether walter can survive getting his hands ripped up by a 14 hundred newton bite

Capybaras are large and merciless animals in combat, they can even fight pit bulls and can cause some serious damage. Suffocating a capybara to death is not scientifically possible unless you knock it out first or sth.
