On the Void Manipulation page it says "Further note that one shouldn't list a character to have resistance/immunity against this ability in total, as that requires a character to have shown resistance against every imaginable ability which can erase a target."

A character not experiencing the full extent of an ability doesn't prevent resistance to mind manipulation, soul manipulation, magic, reality warping or elemental manipulation from being added to its profile.

But why we do this distinction for Void Manipulation when we don't do it for any other ability?

@Kaltias

Having resistance to Void Manipulation would imply having resistance to virtually any kind of damage ability, since the intent of every attack is to utterly destroy someone.

Well resistance is not the same thing as immunity.

Almost forgot about this thread.

@Reppuzan

Can't you simply specify which kind of void manipulation and who used it?

@Kaltias

It was discussed on a Pokemon or a Digimon thread (can't remember which) that having resistance to Void Manipulation in the sense of wiping the target from existence or destroying both existence and non-existence would be strange to have on a profile.

Shouldn't it be noted in some way on the profiles though? Not necessarily "resistance to Void Manipulation", but something like "resisted being erased from X"

The point is that void manipulation resistance would imply some amount of resistance against every form of it, which is always a hastly generalization fallacy.

The ability is just too general to have a profile claim that a character has resistance against it.

Instead just be specific. If a character has shown resistance against having his matter erased, then give him resistance against having his matter erased.

If a character has shown resistance against having his soul erased, then give him resistance against having his soul erased.

The point is that you never give resistance against void manipulation in total, but only list resistance against the one aspect that was demonstrated.
