Looking at slowpoke's Pokédex entries, it probably forgets it's in combat and dies before it realizes it's in pain/realizes that being in pain means something is hurting it.

Slowpoke pretty much reacts to anything Iron Man can throw at him considerably easy and has the AP advantage. Slowpoke has ranged attacks or Telekinetic abilities to already deal with flight from Iron Man as well. Giving it to Slowpoke.

The AP advantage is barely notable at all as it is only a 2x difference.

And the sheer intelligence gap is enough to give IM the win.

That's the elaboration on Slowpoke not feeling pain. That literally means little though Slowpoke isn't the smartest thing, I will give you that.

Slowpoke actually do feel pain, they're noted to take 5 seconds to do so. There Pokédex entries specifically note that the reason they don't react when they're attacked is because it's so absent minded that they don't notice.They'll even get hungry, go fishing, forget why they were there and just laze around by the water for days without actually eating.

They have perfectly good reactions in terms of kinetic vision and combat speed. But when it comes to realizing there's something to react to, they're just too dumb.
