In his weaknesses section it literally says if his true body is removed from the Dragon, it will begin to collapse into individual tentacles

Yeah, but those tentacles are still like, building sized each, capable of attacking things and continuing to grow, unaffected by military bombardment, and each still gives off the poison and mooks and regenerates.
