The Great Sisyphean Quest to Downgrade God of War ⌈Part 9⌋

No gif this time because I'm stuck on the cringe and fail mobile site. You know what else is cringe and fail? God of War scaling (please laugh).

Energy Manipulation, Energy Projection, Resistance Bestowal, & Reactive Evolution [Draupnir]

Draupnir currently has these abilities because of its siphon ability, which absorbs an element from the target and gives Kratos resistance to that element while stripping the target of their own resistance to it. All of this is already covered by absorption, elemental manipulation, and resistance negation; The other four abilities are either redundant, or simply non-existent (what exactly is the spear “evolving” in response to here?).

Resistance to Poison & Acid Manipulation [Redeemed Warrior]

The Manticore Armor can protect against poison and acid. Except, no it can’t, it’s just tipped with a manticore’s venom. The only way this would be a resistance was if the venom was inside the armor and affected whoever put it on, which probably isn’t the case on account of being a really fucking stupid assumption.

Attack Reflection [Redeemed Warrior]

With the Gauntlets of Jason, the Redeemed Warrior can counter attacks. Cool. What exactly is being reflected here? It’s just a counterattack.

Earth Manipulation [Poseidon]

Poseidon has this because his anger can cause the earth to shake. This is somehow interpreted as Poseidon being a god of earthquakes, when like, no, this is just an AP feat at best.

Paralysis Inducement [Poseidon]

He has this from his lightning, which as far as I can tell, has never showcased the ability to paralyze enemies in any of the games or novels. I genuinely cannot tell what the source for this is supposed to be.

Forcefield Creation [Poseidon]

Poseidon’s sword can create forcefields. Except uh, no it can’t. His spear can, though, so change the justification to that.

Deconstruction [Poseidon & Demigod Kratos]

Both Poseidon and Kratos have this due to Poseidon’s lightning being able to destroy people so thoroughly that not even smoke remains. The obvious problem with this is our standards regarding deconstruction, which say the following:
Note: Natural side effects from powers, such as Energy Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, Vibration Manipulation, and other abilities that can produce enough energy output to destroy or dismantle objects, do not mean that characters automatically qualify for this ability, unless the abilities in question specifically and directly focus on deconstruction in itself, rather than as a consequence.
Poseidon’s lightning is a continuous beam of electricity, so of course it’d be able to effectively vaporize fodder enemies without having any “deconstruction” hax. Not much to add, as our standards are quite clear about this. Characters that resist deconstruction via resisting Poseidon’s lightning also need that removed.

At least in real greek myth, he is in fact the god of earthquakes, and this is in the same sentence where he says his fury causes sea storms, so I'm inclined to believe this is in fact some kind of earthquake ability, barring evidence against this.

This isn't an unreasonable take, but we don't typically cross-scale mythology-inspired works with real mythology unless we have a very good reason to do so. In the context of GoW and GoW alone, the only information we have on Poseidon's ties to the earth is that his anger causes it to shake. So, I suppose this is a matter of if you think it's fine to defer to the original myth on this issue or not.

What about Possibly rating Fuji??, since he did called God of Earthshake, and did have one feat??, or Limited Earth Manipulation???

Could Poseidon keep the earth manipulation via his GOW3 boss fight? The giant avatar he creates and controls to fight Kratos is also partiality made of rock

Where is he stated to be a god of earthquakes, though? Also, shaking the earth isn't earth manipulation, you can do that with raw strength.

I always interpreted that as the rocks being held up by his watery body tbh. I'm also not sure if he's actually manipulating the rocks in any way, or if his transformed state just happens to be made of rock; It'd be like giving Zeus animal manipulation for turning into an eagle.

I think he does control a small part of the rocks, here he manipulates something to cover his chest where his true body is chilling but I'm on my crusty ass phone in a place where the best quality I can pull up is 360p so I can't tell if that's actually rock or if it's similar to the claws his hippocamp have
No, it's definitely rock. That's a good point but my question is if this is more like body control (if you assume he shapeshifted into this form and is just moving his own "ribcage") or if it really is earth manipulation (assuming he's just moving shit around to give the appearance of becoming giant).

Kratos at the end of fight flies into the giant water body and comes out the other side with normal sized Poseidon while the giant water body remains intact (At least for a couple of seconds before it collapses) so I think it's just Poseidon manipulating the water and rocks to form a giant body around himself.

Oh just noticed I didn't say this in previous comments, but I also agree with everything else in the OP.

Fair enough. I'll rewrite the justification when I get the time because the gif of earthquakes thing is still ass.
