The Boys discussion thread

I’m not sure how popular the deep is regarding boys matchups but because this is the boys discussion thread I thought I’d show it to you guys so you can help me with it

There's a file in the finale that says Andre's limit is 12 tons
350lb max physical (for Andre against) doesn't look good for Sam, but this is also supposed to be a stronger Sam (who fought Andre) than the one who puts large dents in solid steel walls. Their scuffle is pretty weird given Sam TKOed him in 2 hits in episode 4. Sam proved Cordosa was right about him being stronger than Golden Boy by sending male Jordan flying back.

I think this is the first time we've seen adult Homelander outside of his suit?

Ok so, feat wise the first three episodes give us:

  • Resistance to Acid for Neuman (A strong acid made by Frenchie for 6 months had no effect on her.)
  • Resistance to Disease for Homelander and Ryan (Homelander said that anthrax can't hurt him and Ryan, and Butcher said that the super virus isn't powerful enough to kill Homelander yet)
  • Low Mid regen for Kimiko (Her severed limbs grow back in a few minutes and she is again regenerates from a headshot)
  • Limted Information Analysis and Extraordinary Genius for Sage (Is the smartest person on the planet and deduced Homelander's mental and physical problems just by looking at him.)
  • Limited Explosion Manipulation for Firecracker (causes firecracker explosions with his hand)

Also, Victoria Neuman is bulletproof. She was capable of piercing her own skin in Gen V, so she should scale from her own durability. She doesn't have much in terms of AP feats just yet.

Will power stats and abilities from the show be countered if a character has yet to show it?

For example on Sage's Vought profile it says she has "moderate regeneration" but she has yet to display it yet (I'm assuming it's just going to be accelerated healing for non-fatal injuries rather than a true healing factor like Kimiko).

For Sage specifically, I guess we could wait and see if she is still off next episode. I reckon she heals fast enough for her brain to be 100% the next day, otherwise it's a bit much for simply unwinding.

Just saw episode 1.
Gonna be watching it at a slow pace, no spoilers, please. (Although I'll only be checking this thread every so often, similar to how slowly I check this thread.)

Homelander getting gray hairs & other signs of age is surprising. Guess no longevity for this Superman knock off? Maybe he even ages faster?
Ryan still doing nothing except be conflicted about his family & loyalty to Homelander is frustrating. Maybe if Homelander had the sense to try raising him like Clark Kent; Learn how to use powers in good ways -Help out around the yard, etc.- he might ease up? IDK.
The Boys having to retreat because of Zoey is surprising. I guess when you're a covert group, an unexpected element, even one like that, means regrouping?

What exactly is Homelander & Sister Sage's plan? Like, split apart the citizens to cause trouble while Homelander plays fake hero? Isn't that the same thing he's been doing for several seaons which has been tanking his reputation?
I'm not sure if I feel like Sister Sage is that smart, which, considering it's her whole claim to fame....
It annoys me that Icky Vicky Headpopper is seemingly invulnerable to bullets & acid. Between her being an annoying, evil politician & having a cheap power, is she designed to make audiences want to hate her?
Why did Homelander introduce Sister Sage to the rest of The Seven if all she's done so far is be present for & help instigate a violent riot? (I don't remember her exact role.) Surprised she was able to stay safe despite that.

Surprising that Starlight can APPARENTLY only like, use her powers AND fly at the same time for like, 33 seconds. Why is that? Is she just that inexperienced?
Who was Frenchie kissing around the riot scene, & why?
I wonder if their whole scheme will fail by something like, A Train delivering bodies being on camera footage.

The Supervirus for Homelander worries me. I'd be disappointed if he just succumbed to disease & died. Then again, going out with a whimper for a bully, & self-proclaimed supreme of his setting?

As for Billy Bitcher & his belligerent band of bullet-blasting bang bang blockheads, I don't really care much for them. To me, they feel like a bunch of regular people who'd fit into a mundane action series; I'm more interested in the Superhero stuff, not people that feel like something you'd see in, IDK, James Bond or Fast & the Furious or some other mindless violence with guns series. Nominal protagonists or not.

What does everyone else think of it so far?

"8739378: On a scale of 1 to 'I might laser your face off,' how much do you hate answering stupid questions from Reddit users"

"Y’know, lasering a face off is actually harder than you’d think. You’re much more likely to just take their entire head off. It’s a science but also an art. That burnt hair smell after... ugh."

herrmannuel: "How does flying work? Do you just think about where you want to go and your body does it. Or do you have to do like a motion?
Also, doesn’t it hurt to shoot lasers form your eyes?"

Homelander: "I put as little thought into flying as you put into this question."

There's also him saying this, where he implies Ryan is on par with Starlight, but this could just be conceit: "All I’ll say is that apple didn’t fall far from a pretty mighty tree. I’d like to see Starlight try."

Also, I'm a little ashamed to ask, but who are The Guardians of Godolkin?

Partial quote from this comment says: "Truth is, I can look inside people’s skulls, but you can’t X-ray the human heart. Figuratively speaking. I obviously can look inside people’s hearts whenever I want."

Feat for his X-Ray vision?

Hopefully this isn't too bad or unappreciable. My post is kinda disorganized, I know. Sorry.
Oh, & sorry for kinda multiposting here all of a sudden. Sorry for that, too.

We already know he can see brains through X-ray. Sort of. He could see Butcher's brain tumor and guessed he's dead within half a year.

What about seeing into people's hearts?
There's nothing new for his x-ray vision:
  • In season 1 Hughie and Butcher said that Homelander can see through roofs and ceilings and Homelander is seen spying on Stillwell by looking through a wall. Homelander used his x-ray vision on Edgar and said that Edgar is close to a coronary because his blood is like "engine oil".
  • In season 3 he told Black Noir that he can see through his mask
So the fact that he can see people's hearts is normal

Ah, thank you very much.

BTW, anyone willing to opinionate on some of the stuff I brought up here?

Sorry for any bother. Some of my stuff is questions (Albeit, often kinda dumb ones.) & I'm a bit curious. Not the 'verse I know the best.

I vote we make "Blow A-Train" a quote on Homelander's profile

Just watched the 3 episodes, pretty good so far, I'm ashamed I didn't realize firecracker was played by Valorie Curry earlier. I doubt it'll top Season 2 as my favorite season, but you never know

As for powerscaling, I didn't really notice much that we could add, though I also wasn't activley looking for that while watching. But afaik, no large notable feats that impact AP, Speed, ect, just some intelligence & hacks stuff that aren't too big
