Statements that are literal vs hyperbolic/the ones you need to take with a grain of salt

Think about how often this kind of thing shows up.

Some examples:

-Ted Kord saying Doomsday is: https://static.comicvine.com/upload...4702201-858474-doomsday_faster_than_flash.jpg

-The statement of Sentry having the power of a million exploding suns: https://temsahmohamad.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/sentry-origin.jpg

-The Hulk and Superman possessing unlimited strength...I don't think I need a link for these...

-Darth Vader's quote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nSpDEFO3tY

-That ONE quote from DBZ I dare not bring up directly out of fear of someone getting butthurt about whether or not it is true...

Those are just a few off the top of my head but ya...how often is it that people take some of these quotes too seriously or out proportion and/or context?

Edit: I'm sure I'm probably starting to gain the ire of some people, but the thing is I'm a very "glass half full" kind of guy even for series I really like. I apologize if that is the case, if y'all want to close this then by all means.

1) The Devastator, an evil version of Batman infected with the Doomsday Virus, beat Wally West. Not hyperbole.

2) Last I remembered this wasn't hyperbole either.

3) Okay yeah, that's hyperbole.

4) Have you see Sidious' and the Ones' profiles?

5) Don't know and probably don't care about this quote.

5) Literally the most consistent power statement ever.

Cell is Semi Perfect was High 4C+ Perfect being able to destroy the SS is perfectly true.

A lot of these statements are stemmed from lack of knowledge on the verses and not hyperbolic

@Gargoyle One: Okay, we accept that Cell is Solar System , but not even the more powerful versions of Buu don't even hit 3-C? hello?

@Reppuzan: Okay fine you win on some of those, but I suspect some shenanigans with Doomsday (And I'm a fan of Doomsday and DC Universe in general)(Also Also, lots of things with Batman I find to be ridiculous and PIS loaded, but that's just me)

@Frost

Because those scenes are anime only and the primary canon is the manga.

Note 2: It should also be noted that the difference between the lowest and highest bounds of Solar System level is roughly a trillion times, making it incredibly inconsistent for even the strongest Buu Saga characters to be listed as anything more than 4-B.

Literally a note on the page dude.

@Gar. Semantics, but the other forms of Cell are that tier through backscaling from Super Perfect's statement.

Literally has no effect on any profiles, and I'm not claiming it to be. I just like being a smartass ovo.

@Warren: Sorry, that's my fault but anyhow, I think this thread is deader than yamcha after the Saiyan Saga....

Fair enough, facts are facts, just like Nihilus wrecking Mewtwo

ovo

@Thatoneguy78: Yes, yes it has (mild skepticism put aside). I mean the dude can casually break every bone in Savage Hulk's Body, easily overpower thor and drag him across several lightyears in seconds, reconstituted himself from being broken down into his most basic elements by the Molecule Man, and destroyed Asgard.....and I'm sure there's a couple others I'm forgetting, but ya it's not TOO farfetched.

wait wait, how about Etna's quote from DD2 where she says ANY demon can destroy stars (I more take this statement to mean that any demon remotely worthy of the title of Demon Lord at this level). I find that one a touch controversial. Also, I know someone's gonna bring up how even fodder (with the exception of WoC demons) characters can recreate the big bang, but the way I see this is that there is some level of gameplay/story segregation going on. (IE: I believe a good number of playable story characters can be classified as universal/multi-universal) I've played no less than 3 of the 5 Disgaea games and at some point be this must be the case. No?

2-A Anyverse due to having countless universes....actually what would countless taken literally be? Would it just be stupid high 2-B because it would be Transfinite, or straight up 2-A or higher?

@Lightbuster30: hmm, that is definitely tricky given that I thought I understood how this site's tiering system initially worked and then I looked around and started wondering if I really did understand the scale...
