SS2 Trunks = SS3 Goku According to DBS Manga

As the title suggests, the DBS Manga decided to put SS2 Trunks in the same tier as SS3 Goku: http://imgur.com/a/07RmA (pages 33 to 36 from Dragon Ball Super 15)

page 33: Goku and Trunks going at it in SS2. Whis states that Trunks has a slight advantage over Goku despite being in the same form.

page 34: Goku whips out SS3. Trunks says that he also has something up his sleeve.

page 35: Trunks merely powers-up (possibly going full power). Vegeta states that Trunks did not transform but his power is nearly equal to Goku.

page 36: Goku one-shots Trunks. However, Beerus states that Goku used his god form for a split second (presumably without anyone else noticing) to take out Trunks, and Whis implies that he is correct. Goku needed to tap into SSG to take out SS2 Trunks.

So, what will you guys make of this?

The manga should be slightly canon, and explain how he one shot Dabura. And how he also after SSB Vegeta's training he was able to match Zamasu and Black Goku.

Well, as far as I remember they were evenly matched in SS2 in the anime, which is what we tend to go by.

SSJ2 Trunks was badly outclassed by non-god ki SSJ3 Goku when they were sparring. And Trunks compared Goku Black's full power to SSJ3 as if it were something extraordinarily impressive.

Since this manga scene directly contradicts the DBS anime, which is primary canon, we should discard it in my opinion.

A real shame to. It would of been great character development to see him not rely on transformations for power, and instead raise his base ki.
