It prevents Sonic from dying and can ensure an eventual victory, however it won't stop general inconveniences, he can still be knocked out or lose "temporarily."

That's sounds like how Nagito's luck abilities work. The literal part. Sonic's FateHax is a lot more subtle. A lot less obvious and harder to identify.
