Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Ian gave up on continuing answering Sonic questions on the Bumblekast. It's truly the end of an era that, although rough, had its funny moments.

Honestly, good. Not that I dislike Ian or anything, but people intentionally go to him to ask him these questions that put him on the spot and essentially shake him down for lore or canon stuff, even though Ian's word is a suggestion at best. People got too comfortable and it caused discourse and now they're feeling the consequences of that. It's sad to see, but it's expected and the podcast will be better for it. Leave the questions on lore stuff to the Twitter Takeovers, to be honest. That's literally their purpose.

Man that's such a shame but understandable, an unfortuently large number of people ask the dumbest questions and take things outta context to cause discourse over things only a toddler / the average twitter user would get overly upset about. On the bright side it does mean they won't have to seal with said dumb questions about Rouge's body oder or discourse started because a shipper was upset Blaze wasn't with Knuckles or something, and that classic #knowing smile does imply Sega having something juicy in mind for Ian to work / currently is working on.

I'll tell you this, in the most recent bubblecast they asked if Sonic has immeasurable speed for generations... do what you want with that info

And that's even worse than using Ian Flynn bumblecast

Not really. I don't think it's that bad so long as they don't ask some stupid powerscaling questions or other weird questions. For the Takeovers, it isn't live and they choose the questions. Like just the smaller lore bites are fine, honestly.

Also, I don't care what Ian says about Sonic's speed to be honest. He isn't a powerscaler and I don't care for his word a lot of the time. I know the scaling and that's all I need.

Maybe, but the takeover is more of a joke thing, to be honest almost a parody,
Remember that there are questions like favorite animes, things like Shadow with very high (and low at the same time) standards to have a partner, Infinite directly sends Sonadow to Eggman, Among Us, Tails' obsession with mints, etc.

That's not the point, it was a reinforcement of what you said

So how long will it be until we can openly discuss Sonic three spoilers because I really want to theorize what they can do with Sonic 4.

Can't you guys just make a spoiler discussion thread on it? The same was done for other releases for other franchises

I'm really hoping this goes well for Ian and Kyle, and for everyone on the BumbleKast.

Some beings are just actually stupid, and are mean to people they don't know, over nothing. If doing this can help cease how much people like that target Ian, then I am for this. There's no reason to keep a source of stress open for other people to gawk at.

Again, the Takeover stuff doesn't have to be for serious questions. Like, it doesn't need to be. We don't really need answers to serious questions anyway. Let the games answer those if anything. More questions left unanswered, the more opportunities that they have to answer them in an actual title.

On an unrelated note, I thought it'd be cool if Shadow was able to use various Chaos Powers similar to how Jak from Jak & Daxter is able to use various Eco Powers from the main trilogy or (more interestingly-enough) from The Lost Frontier. Especially with them being based off of different colors and such. Imagine Shadow with various other Chaos Powers based on the colors of the Chaos Emerald, but implemented in a better way than Superstars.

Personally I prefer the color of the chaos power to represent their nature/Shadow's mentality rather than what emerald he use(evil red & heroic blue like in 05)
Again, that's basically like Jak & Daxter functionality. At least in Jak 2 and onward. I think using other colors of Chaos Energy would be cool as well. The Eco Powers in The Lost Frontier, despite the game being a lil weird, were actually genius and really cool. Red Eco's "Eco Amplifier" is so cool. Same for Green Eco's "Eco Construct".

So instead of Shadow being created by Gerald as the Ultimate Lifeform and to help cure Maria's disease, G.U.N. just found Shadow on a asteroid in the 1970's and brought him to be experimented on while he met Gerald and Maria.

WILD ass lore shift... I like it. Makes the movies repeatedly feel like a unique continuity, moreso than usual, and I appreciate them keeping on that path.

Not everything should be copy-pasted from the games.

Ooh that's very interesting, nice twist that's unique to the film while still feeling in line with the games.

Does the movie explain why Shadow looks like Sonic in this universe? I know it's basically all but confirmed (Or maybe SXSG fully confirmed it, I haven't actually read Geralds journal entries yet) in the games that Shadows looks are based on the mural of Super Sonic from Hidden Palace, but do they have an explanation in the movie or is it just like the trailer where it's just a joke that look alike

Shadow pulled a Knuckles and punched the super out of Super Sonic wtf

Remember, Knuckles did that to Robotnik in Sonic 2

It looks like masters of Chaos Energy can nullify super forms

Emotional amp is OP

Super Shadow overpowered Super Sonic after using the Master Emerald to go super as well, ultimately knocking him down. After getting a rage amp, Sonic one-shots Shadow, launching him to the moon and knocking the super form out of him

In fact, Shadow powered the Eclipse Cannon by thinking back to the day that Maria died and using his anger to enhance his own power. It's highly reminiscent of that time in the first movie in which Sonic caused a nation-wide power outage and universe-spanning power surge by getting emotional over his existential loneliness

Damn, these movies are really consistent about the power system

What you are saying now and what I was responding to are different things.

To my knowledge? No. But my theory is that Sonic and Shadow could perhaps be a part of the same species of alien, which would explain why they both have innate Chaos Energy and why they're adapt with using it seamlessly.
