He has some hax to negate durabillity like void wisps, but generally speaking Shadow is pretty much the only character in the games who can overcome AP gaps like this in character.

And what stops Robotnik from just going back in time before he was BFR'd? He did this to catch Sonic off guard once while trying to get the Chaos Emerald of Invisibility.

Since this is SBA, Robotnik should have everything with him.
