Suggestion: Introduction of a Regeneration Speed Metric for Characters
Currently, the VS Battles Wiki has an established classification system for regeneration types, which categorizes characters based on the extent of their regenerative abilities, such as the ability to regenerate lost limbs, organs, or even entire bodies. Though it always bothered me how it does not account for the time it takes for the body parts to fully heal. Obviously, oversight can lead to ambiguities when assessing a character’s overall combat effectiveness.
For example: Character X is supposedly able to regenerate from being reduced to ashes (Mid-High Regeneration). At first glance, this might make X seem extremely powerful due to the extent of their regenerative ability. However, without knowing how long this regeneration takes, it is difficult to accurately gauge their effectiveness in combat. If they can regenerate from ashes instantaneously, they would seem to be nearly unstoppable in battle. On the other hand, if this process takes hours or even days, X would be vulnerable for a significant period, reducing their combat effectiveness.
I propose the introduction of a regeneration speed metric to complement the existing regeneration types. This metric would provide a more complete picture of a character's healing capabilities by categorizing the speed at which they can heal from injuries. The existing regeneration types could also be revised to begin with to incorporate this speed metric.
Proposed Regeneration Speed Metric
Below is my list of proposed regeneration speed categories. It is admittedly in a preliminary state and should be refined with further discussion:
Tier 1: Instantaneous Regeneration
The character regenerates from any form of injury immediately to a few seconds.
Tier 2: Near-Instantaneous Regeneration
The character can regenerate from major injuries, such as dismemberment or severe organ damage, in seconds to under a minute.
Tier 3: Rapid Regeneration
The character regenerates from significant injuries, including lost limbs, within several minutes.
Tier 4: Moderate Regeneration
The character can regenerate from major injuries, such as lost limbs, within several hours.
Tier 5: Slow Regeneration
The character regenerates from significant injuries, like lost limbs, over the course of several days to a week.
I would like to hear people's feedback on this. Please give your thoughts and inputs to further discuss this.
