Rayman General Discussion Thread

Also, I dislike using the "Nymphs created Rayman" backstory when it's clearly scrapped and contradicted by the PS Vita version of Rayman Origins and Rayman Mini.
What part of those games out of curiosity? I’ll admit I’m kinda biased because I kinda liked that lore because it works as a nice callback to Rayman 2 with Rayman being stated to be the one being Polokus didn’t dream. Plus I find it kinda cool Jano was a part of his backstory.

Rayman Origins (PS Vita) - Shows a Rayman "backstory" that reveals that how he got his hair and shows him with Raynette, a female member of his species despite the fact that Rayman was created with his hair and the only one without limbs.

Rayman Mini - Reveals that Mr. Dark is still limbless when, again, Rayman is supposedly the only one created without limbs.

Also, weirdly enough, the manual for Origins itself seems to imply that the Nymphs didn't create Rayman, just summoning him instead. Even though they say Rayman was born, it also states they only invoked him.

Also, this line exists:

"Legend has it that Rayman first came to the Glade of Dreams to defeat the nightmare creatures and banish them to the lower realms" The line would've been something like "Legend has it that Rayman was created to defeat the nightmares". And speaking of this line...

I think Rayman coming to the Glade to defeat the Nightmares is a better callback to Rayman 2 since it gives a reason as to why Rayman randomly showed up there one day.

Good catch on the “invoke” line. Honestly didn’t notice that.

Idk regarding the rest. What does everyone else think?

Thinking about it, but remind me, was it mentioned in Rayman Origins that Rayman is the only limbless one in the Glade? I only can remember it explicitly mentioned in the Rayman 2 manual.

Not really, no. Polokus talks about the Nymphs giving Rayman limbs, but the other limbless characters aren't ever brought up.

Damn, another GD for a verse only 5 people (Including me) care about, peak

Regarding Rayman´s "Varies" rating, since we no more allow varies rating to inconsistent characters, should he be "At least Small City level, possibly/likely Solar System level"? (Although i ain´t against a full 4-B rating either)

Also, is the Rabbids cartoon canon?

Would you like to be listed as a supporter of the verse?

Yeah, there probably are a few ways the stats could be improved. "At least Small City level, possibly/likely Solar System level" is fine by me unless anyone has any other suggestions. If Varies is no longer allowed we probably have to change the speed as well.

As far as Rabbids Invasion goes, the Rabbids/Rayman canon is kinda confusing in general. Davide Soliani mentioned a while back that Rayman and the Rabbids are in separate universes now, but that was back in 2017. From what I’ve seen Rabbids Invasion should be canon to the Rabbids games at least afaik.

I have only played 3 Rayman games actually, the first 2D and 3D ones and Legends, although it definitely is a franchise that i have interest to and would like to contibute for

Talking about Speed, due we have any calculation for Speed that ins´t the MFTL+ one?

Well, considering that multiple games revolves around both series being canon to each other they still should be canon unless some bigger proof emerges

I went ahead and added you.

Here and Here. Also, there is one Rabbids feat that isn’t in a blog where Rabbids are fast enough to hit each other out of Jupiter’s orbit.

This was referenced in the blog I linked earlier so you might be right.

Certainly some interesting arguments for Rayman in here, including stuff I hadn't seen before like the Multiverse level+ stuff.
Yeah, certainly a lot to take in, and not sure what to make of a lot of it yet. Like the idea of Rayman as an abstract being is weird to think about lol.

Hang on, why would he be only "likely" Solar System level? He performs that feat 5 times throughout Legends; that's more consistent than his city level feats.

Being on a certain tier both power and speed-wise for doing the same feat five times sounds quite hilarious to me (shouldn't underestimate cartoony characters), though as Accelerated wrote above, it may be as consistent (also counting from Reflux creating a nebula and starry sky with the power of Leptys' scepter, in a same blog).

Maybe so. Though characters like Ly and Betilla might need a “possibly Solar System level” since they weren’t involved in the feat at all.

Being consistent in one game doesn't necessary means being consistent with other games

Although one of the Rabbids divebombing into the Sun (5-C), creating a huge shockwave (High 6-A) and a group of Rabbids moving the continents (High 5-A) implies some consistence on a Cosmic level of power (Albeit, again, i´m not what someone would call a "specialist" on Rayman)

(Shouldn't underestimate cartoony characters)
They give you absurd feats and then give you the most stupid anti-feats on the exact next scene

Reflux creating a nebula and starry sky with the power of Leptys' scepter
This is something that's always confused me in particular

Do we know exactly what Reflux did? Like, what are those last two levels? I don't think any manuals or sites ever explain that, but it could be neat if there were explanations somewhere. I've never thought about interpreting that feat as creating a nebula or a starry sky tbh

I previously just assumed Reflux opened a portal to Leptys’ realm and was granted power by the god in the process. Though since Leptys is likely comparable to Polokus, I have no trouble believing he could create a nebula or starry sky considering the gods of Rayman’s universe apparently dream up the future.

I think that the feat made by the Rabbids on the Rabbids Invasion opening may not be able to be used due to the cartoon itself portraying Earth as without the "Rabbid" continent
Tbf the Rayman/Rabbids universe isn’t the most consistent verse. Just look at the differences in the appearance of the Glade between Rayman 1 and Rayman 2 for instance. I am not sure where wacky gag feats would fit because the Rabbid burp shockwave isn’t referenced either.
