Place your favorite character(s) into Shin Megami Tensei and classify it

If you were to insert your favourite characters into Shin Megami Tensei what race and species would they be?

I got the idea for this thread when I was making a fanfic (sadly, very little good SCP fanfics exist, including on the site itself though I guess whether or not crossover tales can be considered fanfics are up for debate) and I've kind of been fascinated by how diverse the race and species categories are as well as how they have their own characteristics.

I kind of just created this to share my thoughts on what the race and species of Swann entities would be if they were considered a "demon" you can fuse or even an enemy or "playable character".

For example:

SCP 001 Proposal (Swann)

Possible Species

  1. Human

Possible Races

  1. Stars: Based on the typology of narrative dimensions in SCP 6747 where Swann was closer to the 6th stories described as constellations. This is the race of system administrators alien entities like Canopus and Polaris in devil survivor 2. I believe this is the closest race to author entities narratively speaking as there are instances where humans become system administrators and instances where they even managed to be both at the same time. Personally, I do find this one to be rather boring though, both in terms of nomenclature and portrayals (although stars exist as both human and divine existences, there are almost no interesting/meaningful comparisons or correlations between them such that I would find it annoying trying to merge them in one character or even to write)
  2. Chaos King/King of Chaos/Chaos: Demi-fiend's race, basically based on SCP 3999 who declared itself a chaos god and SCP 4010 where author entity analogues were necessary to bring back other SCPs by generating enough chaos. Also fits in with the whole "greater the layer the greater the freedom one has" motif that is a pretty chaotic point of view from an SMT standpoint. It sounds the coolest to me but it is a bit narratively unsatisfying compared to the Stars race albeit not by much.
  3. Human: Self-explanatory. Not only the species but also the race should be human. Easiest option and also, to me, the most boring. It would kind of ignore all the "true gods compared to other known SCP gods that are comparatively still limited" motif that exist in SCP 3812 and the mythology surrounding author entities particularly pointed out in Place's Tales. If I wanted this I would have picked any other meta verse to write about tbh. Either way, pretty low on the ranking.
  4. Vile: The race of "evil" gods, or at least the ones that prefer to rule out of fear. My least favourite race to put them in as it's kind of a "dark-law" alignment, some SCP Foundation employees and their families pray/give thanks to them in a tale and IHP Proposal specifically says they're not evil so the only reason I would possibly use this designation if I wanted to make my fanfiction as edgy as possible in opposition to accuracy (Ps I don't). Sometimes author entities do give this kind of feeling though, with SCP 5466 creating innate feelings of disgust and SCP 3999 derivative tales where they are the direct source of suffering for normal characters or even SCP 5500 where they were unintentional catalysts for multiversal annihilation in more ways than one, so not as inaccurate as I first thought.
  5. God-Slayers: Also one of the easiest. Godslayers can be humans, but they can also be their own distinct race. They are the destination of the gods where their goal ideas are manifested in them. This fits into the motif of lower entities and worlds being created to act out the imaginations of the author entities. In the SMT4A interview they are likened to puppets, just as author entities puppet lower entities but free will is also important. Dagda stated without free will godslayers cannot use their true power, just as author entities enjoy having a free will compared to lower entities. In the SMT 4A interview the entire story was considered to be meta so it should probably be even higher. I might go with this simply because it's cooler than "stars" and SMT4A is one of my favourites (sorry SMT Strange Journey/Redux).

Finally in summary: God-Slayer>=Stars>Chaos King>Human>Vile.

Possible Alignments

  1. Light Chaos: They are light because the Foundation believes they are fundamental to their existence and in SCP 5500 they were necessary for worlds to survive. Chaos because they are more in control or have free will than those below them. See Chaos King for more details.

Hmm, how does this works exactly? Since one of mine favorite character is basically a half body of a god

Well, classification in this case is based on alignment and species/race.

Alignment is easy though complicated. It's basically DnD where you decide how "lawful" or "chaotic" your character is.

Light characters guide people, and are basically leaders or act as examples of a prominent ideology. Alternatively, in a more cosmic sense they are "fundamental" to the way people lives' work.

Dark Characters are directly associated with negative emotions and destructive tendencies.

Neutral characters either switch between them, or can't be described completely in either category.

These are basically the "good" and "bad" scalings of Dungeons and Dragons.

You add these tendencies to different beliefs of the franchise to gain the alignment.

Chaos is the belief in competition where power is deemed incredibly important.

Law is the belief that laws should be viewed as absolute. They look to a higher authority whether this is someone higher in society or a religious entity or thing of worship.

Neutral is a balance between the two and doesn't quite fit into either idea, similar to tendency.

So if the half body of a god likes to act as an example to people and completely obeys a higher being then he would be most similar to Light Law.

Species and Race are much harder to classify though which is why I linked the SMT wiki which goes into them a bit.

Basically, there's multiple races for each species.

There are some species that are more "human" than others, and other species that are completely separate from them as gods and demons. If you don't know what your species would be just put a question mark. This can als be used for race to (as seen in SMT 4 in regards to demonized Hugo there isn't always a race or species that fits the entity in question. This is just for fun and so there's no need to worry overly much).

They have their own characteristics that make them enter the race and species which are as follows:
Dark-Neutral

"Apparitions that lack physical bodies. Normal ghosts appear like afterimages of their former selves after death, but these Spirits are dangerous beings appearing as souls still attached to the physical plane."
Spirits
"Corpses possessed by spirits, rarely by their original ones. Their personalities remain as energy moving throughout their bodies (like with Elementals), and they can communicate, but often ambiguously. If a person’s spiritual ability was strong enough in life, they may wish to continue inhabiting their body."
Undead
Neutral-Chaos

"Demons born through fusion and possession. The demon’s existence and that of its human host are not yet unified into a single entity, causing it to transform from beast to human and back. They may appear differently depending on the properties of their human souls."
Therians (like werewolves)
Dark-Chaos

"Hostile humans who display many symptoms of demonic possession similar to those of schizophrenia, thought to have practically become demons themselves."
Kyojin (basically, human ruffians and criminals).
Ishtar Believers

"Worshippers of Ishtar, the goddess of love. They practice free and unconditional love, and their gender roles are quite different."

Bael Believers

"Worshippers of Tyrant Baal of Palestine. Baal is a holy king who promises fertility at his own expense, though he treats the Tyrant Bael as his incarnation. Baalites are therefore willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the earth."
Shinja
"People who have become Fiends by fusing with demons. They reject divine protection and rely solely on their own strength. However, since their personalities as humans are not observed, they sometimes work for some other person or cause."
Fiends
Dark-Neutral

"Demons such as Slimes and phenomena that do not fall under any classification. They have no personalities and act on some sort of pattern."
Foul
"Machines like robots and automated laser weapons. (MP comes from power supply). Though they do not operate as programmed, they sometimes cause digital demons to run away. "
Machines
"Inanimate objects possessed by demons (tsukumogami are an example of this). The more humanlike the object is, the easier it is for a demon to possess. However, most Puppets are controlled by artists."
Kugutsu
"Evil of death conglomerated into dangerous demons. Rather than single bodies, they tend to be composed of large numbers of similar Spirits. They are largely given over to haunting. "
Haunt
"Though they are interested in humans, they dislike their intense desires and rationalism. The faerie folk have their own kingdoms and sometimes compete with each other (such as the Pixies and Elves of southwest England). Those who live in groups are relatively mild, while those who live alone tend to be rougher around the edges."
Fairy
"Elementals who form the building blocks of existence. They are omnipresent in the living world, supporting it. Weaker Elements lack personalities and display clearly visible patterns and symbols. Stronger nature Elements have basic personalities tailored to their attributes."
Element.
"Tree spirits tainted by their environment and turned evil. They are simple-minded and attack anyone who approaches them."
Wood
"Distant relatives of the Fairy race, unified with the precious trees and flowers. They are non-immobile plant spirits who have emerged as departing souls. They dislike humans who clear forests and grasslands."
Jusei
Light-Neutral

"Manifestations of the holy power of the earth. Their sanctuaries include rocks, mountains, and forests. They also control aspects of people and nations such as fertility and victory. They grant people wisdom through intuition and not intelligence."
Avatar (Beasts)
Light-Law

"Representations of self-sacrifice and purity, even among animal gods. They are gods commonly associated with innocence of soul and simplicity of heart. Despite being part of the Beasts family, they are effective guardians who harbor little aggression."
Holy (Beasts)
"Manifestations of the violent power of the earth. They embody innocent desire and the ability not to be affected by anything. They are fierce to those who are hostile to them, but also have the capacity for love and friendship. They tend to save their caution for their own relatives."
Beast Race
"Demons who embody the dark, fearful side of wild essence, as fear is a strong force in the natural world. In their being, the Wilder combine Beasts’ associations with fear with evil desires. These demons may also be created through magic, and some may be used by human masters."
Wilder
Food (フード, Fūdo) is a race appearing in Shin Megami Tensei IV and Apocalypse.

"Prior to God's Plan, domesticated mammals (primary cows and pigs) provided the main source of protein within Tokyo. Because of the severe shortages in livestock, however, demon meat is used as a replacement. Demons fit for human consumption are categorized as the "Food" race."

—Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Notes, entry - "Demon Meat"

This race is mostly formed by the demons of the UMA race from Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. This race can be used in Fusion as normal, but is unable to be fused outside of Element ranking or fusion accidents.
Food Race
Neutral-Law

"Though similar to Brutes, they use their powerful anger and passion in service of a greater purpose. They are inflexible and absolutely obedient to order. The Tōki race also includes soldiers who have been turned into demons."
Toki
"Demons who act on their desires. They are fiercely independent, and unlike the Tōki, they have no clear goals. They are not keen on becoming minions unless they have common interests with their masters. It is important to remember that the nucleus of their existence is rage, grudge, and sorrow"
Brutes
"Former humans transformed into demons by intense love/hate or formerly worshipped Megami. The latter are personified as nature spirits."
Femme
"The only Neutral-aligned Demoniacs. They are spirits of families and of the earth. As family spirits, they favor the upholding of family traditions. As earth spirits, they are tenacious but not belligerent, but they sometimes reveal their anger to humans who threaten the natural world. "
Jirae
"Demons born from obsessions of people and animals, they are malignance manifest. They are constantly bloodthirsty and hungry for human flesh. Their Law alignment comes from their obedience as demons pressed into servitude."
Jaki
Light-Chaos

"Dragon gods who have become enlightened and ascended to Heaven, having learned how to control themselves. Human knowledge falls short of their standards, and so they reject humanism and other such modes of thought."
Dragon
"Dragon kings connected to certain mountains and rivers. They use the power of water to control underground veins and affect various earthly phenomena. Occasionally, they demand sacrifices of blood to heal damage to the earth."
Snake
"Dragons that harmonize well with nature, but become very violent as victims of oppression and wrongdoing when that harmony collapses due to human intervention. Only through sacrifices of blood can they be appeased."
Drake
"Beings who represent the flight of the soul and awakening. They also lead souls to the afterlife. Avians have noble souls unpolluted by material value. Therefore, their natures conflict with those of Dragons, who are the exact opposite."
Avian of the Avians
"Embodiments of the power of the air. They carry off souls, bringing death to those whose times have come. Because they sometimes protect people’s dreams, they are hostile to Nights. Most Flights are female."
Flight
"Evil birds who are the spirits of those who died in anguish and are driven to biomagnetite. They are widely considered to be ill omens of impending strife and/or disaster. Strong Raptors will go out of their way to attack humans, and some are used for purposes of revenge."
Raptor
"The highest-ranking Archangels (not to be confused with regular Archangels) who occupy important positions. These angels give orders from Heaven to the ones on Earth. There are many strict ones, but also many merciful ones."
Heralds
"The angels who watch over humanity. They act as heavenly messengers. They guide people on the righteous path of peace and harmony. Though polite, they are somewhat stubborn and inflexible. They value spiritual love, devotion, friendship, and trust, and are also big on beautiful melodies and harmonies."
Divine
In Giten Megami Tensei, the Fallen Angel race was divided between 2 alternate races. The first is named "不天使, Futenshi" (Non-Angel), being Neutral-Chaos aligned, and the other is the "Datenshi", being Dark-Chaos aligned.

"Angels who were banished to the Expanse after rebelling against the Creator God. Once noble, their existences have now become soiled in grudge and sorrow. Their behavior is rife with falsehood, and they actively interfere in human affairs as they seek revenge on Heaven."

"Angels who descended to Earth of their own volition, unlike the Fallen. They observe human essences and distinguish them as knowing pain and sadness or joy and passion. They are guardians of beauty and decadence, nurturing pleasures of the flesh and rejoicing in passion and enthusiasm. They have strong senses of rhythm, making them proficient at dancing and fighting."
Fallen
"The numerous demon lords who represent and direct Fallen demons. Lower-Leveled Tyrants are concerned only with advancing their own power, while the higher-classed Tyrants seek to realize a universe with a completely different order from that of the Creator."
Tyrant
"Magica that are particularly familiar with humans. They are adversaries of humans, bringing about chaos through illusions and deception. Their main weapon is temptation, particularly the sexual kind. They often desire flesh because their own physical bodies are so lacking.
Night
"Magica with ample magical power and the ability to transform. Some are protectors of humans, and are basically honest and good. They are known to respect moderation and dislike vulgarity and crude people. Some even sympathize with the Creator God and the Messians"

Yoma
"Hybrids of souls of those who died by drowning and nature spirits. When seeking out humans/lovers, they sometimes end up killing them. Because of this, they can be very dangerous, but are less so around smaller bodies of water, such as fountains."

Suiyou
"The lowest-ranking Magica. Like the Jaki, they enjoy seeing humans suffer in violence, hatred, and jealousy. Because their Levels are so low, they are often used by Earth dwellers as familiars."
Jaki
"Destroyers who enable new periods of creation. As agents of violent change, they represent severe aspects of nature. Among their roles are storm god, fire god, war god, netherworld god, etc. They despise indolence and are tough on themselves and Earth dwellers. They are often dangerous to humans."
Fury
"Angry gods. Their anger is directed at things like hostility, injustice, and bad luck, and is said to drive away the evil gods who create those things. They despise iniquity most of all and are compassionate gods. For this reason, they often protect/serve the chief god(s) in many pantheons."

Law-aligned demons are from Amatsukami, Chaos-aligned demons are from Kunitsukami.
Kishin
"Mothers of the Earth itself. They give unconditional love, compassion, and nurturing. But when human blood is spilled, they stain everything in its vengeful color, especially when that blood belongs to their sons or guardians… Perhaps in ancient times, blood was associated with healing as well as harm."
Lady
"Once supreme gods, they now subject men to great terror. They rule through fear, which sways people’s minds most quickly. Their worshippers brutally kill their enemies and sacrifice their blood to them. They do not cooperate, but rather fight and compete with each other for hegemony."
Vile
"The chief gods of various pantheons. Among their roles are ethnic god, father god, wisdom god, hero god, protector god, ancient divine king, etc. Many have bestowed humans with wisdom and grace, leading them to enlightenment. Their personalities are relatively good-natured, maintaining the status quo or encouraging free evolution. However, they can be quite fearsome when angered."
Deity
"Beautiful goddesses who bestow people with love, grace, and prosperity. Many are partnered with Deities, but are more sympathetic to humans. They represent the gentle aspect of nature’s power. They are major symbols of love, spreading it generously, though it may sometimes turn to jealousy."
Megami

...that's pretty confusing and me smol brain can't understand some of it ngl

I'll just wait for other people first

one question, we are considering if the characters are famous and loved by many fans like deadpool and the like, who are aware of that.

would they have a Power Increase due to belief like YHVH?

Well to answer your question, in the case of Deadpool, as shown in Gwenpool's original series he is already kind of empowered as a result of fan belief allowing him to stomp weaker characters with ease though it's not to the extent of Yhvh or even much weaker demons depict. So since he already has a similar ability it is not necessary to imagine him to have that power via verse equalization.

If it is in the case of characters who originally don't have such abilities in their verses then you'd have to decide if, by Shin Megami Tensei rules, whether or not they would qualify.

For example, you can say a human with god-like powers like the Joker upon taking the imp's powers for example, has become so inhuman he can be treated like a god.

Of course, you can also argue that Joker was treated more as a human being with too much power than a true god like Darkseid or the Olympians since in Shin Megami Tensei, humans aren't really empowered like that except for when they are supported by "bonds" or they die, and become a god upon being worshiped or any other methods of becoming a demon, thus he wouldn't qualify.

Entities like Galactus would also be questionable, but entities like Eternity, Death etc. are probably too inhuman to deny them the boons of demonhood.

I use Deadpool as an example, but what about immortal Humans worshiped by their fans and they are aware?
This is a thread where you have to decide how your character would fit into the Shin Megami Tensei multiverse. This would automatically include all the boons they would usually gain if they were originally that race or species (if you say or can prove a character is a fiend, for example, they would automatically get death manipulation).

You're basically asking me "if this character is a kryptonian does that mean he would gain solar radiation absorption?"
