PIS

PIS shouldn't even be a thing, because technincaly every fight is PIS because the plot says who wins, for example Goku vs Beerus, Beerus can destroy the universe right? That would kill Goku immediatly right? Plus most people call something PIS if they don't like the character, so it's really not fair, for example I suggested Sakura from Naruto get upgraded since she broke one of Kaguya's horns and noone else could, I was told that's PIS, why? Because the main character couldn't do it? She got a masive power up just like Sasuke and Naruto, so I think it's fair. I'm sure this will change nothing but still, I just wanted to speak my opinon.

This addresses everything.

PIS, short for "Plot-Induced Stupidity" is a term used to refer to events in a story that contradict a character's normal capabilities for the purpose of the plot. For example, if a generally competent, intelligent villain does something stupid like not killing the hero immediately when he has the chance, and that allows the hero to win, that would be an example of PIS (if the villain was just incompetent in general, it would be CIS or short for "Character-Induced Stupidity") instead.

Examples of PIS:

- Hulk being defeated by Captain America, and an ordinary python, or being severely harmed by regular gorillas.

- Thor being knocked unconscious by an ordinary gunshot.

- Superboy-Prime being able to harm Mister Mxyzptlk, and being defeated himself by the Teen Titans.

- Dormammu being harmed by Cyclops, and defeated by Illyana Rasputina, or Frankenstein's Monster.

- Spiderma beating Firelord

- Arceus losing its Plates and nearly dying after stopping a meteor

- Black Panther subduing the Silver Surfer

- Gambit beating Gladiator

- She-Hulk almost being killed by a very small explosion.

Okay. Guess it's time for Multiversal+ Batman, 1-A Superman, Universal MFTL+ Mordecai, Building level Arceus, and Both Wall level and 1-A Thor if we're no longer considering PIS to be a thing regarding feats.

Acrid snark aside, the comments above have basically summarized our stance on the matter. Many works of fiction have no particular care for consistency and power levels, sometimes allowing characters to display feats much higher or lower than they're usually capable of.

As a result, we must evaluate each and every feat before using it for upgrades, and Plot-Induced Stupidity is very much a thing, especially in comic books.

So PIS isn't a thing.

Complex multiversal Kaldor Draigo confirmed.

I apologize if I appeared sarcastic in my post. I only wanted to illustrate the asburd consequences of what would happen if we denied PIS in a humorous manner. Not to make fun of anyone.

But in all seriousness, PIS is something that does occur in fiction, and we have to judge things on a case by case basis regarding it. Or else we risk losing any sense of coherancy, logic or order within the site.
