On Dr Doom's classification

There is an indication that Victor von Doom(Earth 616) is no longer human, or at least, a normal one. This is in Mark Millar's story arc of the "Master of Doom", where Doom is sent back in the Pliocene Epoch by the Marquis of Death. There, Doom stated that he transformed his body, untill no molecule had been the same. When he returned in the present, he was able of high level telekinesis and telepathy and stated that he had become an infinitely superior being. Doom had no armor and it is unlikely that he was using magic; rather the Marquis of Death(a non magical being) taught him how to control these powers. So, I believe a classification such as "psionically upgraded human" or "psionically evolved" should be added.

This was retconned/contradicted in a later Thunderbolts story, in which it turned out that he just travelled back with their time machine.

I think that CBR has an article devoted to it.

I have seen that issue, written by Jeff Parker. It only contradicts the fact that Doom stayed in the past for millenia, as it was revealed that he had used the time machine. As for Doom's psychic powers and his training with the Marquis, this was never retconned. I think that the classification as "psionically upgraded human" should be added. What do you say?

It has never been referred to again, so I think that we have to consider it as an ignored part of continuity, and an otherwise contradicted oddity.

Well, Doom has used psionic powers several times, including the Ovoid mind transfer, hypnosis, telekinesis, technopathic control over certain devises and levitation. Plus he has displayed enhanced senses and regenerative healing factor, according to his stats, all without the aid of magic or technology. I don't mean to insist but I feel there is strong evidence that Doom has become a metahuman throughout comic book history

Yes, but the claim that he rebuilt his body on a cellular level and is a million years old seems to have been ignored.

I apologise for tiring you with messages but I just can't leave Doom's superhuman abilities unexplained. Could it be "mentally evolved human", or at least " possibly metahuman"? Or some other idea that you will have thought. There is the need for an explanation here.

I do not think that we need a specific explanation. Like Moondragon and Doctor Strange, he has acquired his abilities through sheer extreme degrees of personal training.

Well, Dr Strange's psychic powers derive from his personal magical resources of his lifeforce and are thus considered a type of magic. As for Moondragon, can't she be considered a metahuman? She has evolved above the average human level. I think Doom's situation is closer to Moondragon, so he should be considered a metahuman, I believe.

It seems unnecessary to classify him as such. He is a human who has enhanced himself through training. That is probably enough. We should not use too complicated designations.

No. There is no official statement about this as far as I am aware.
