Off guard feats

So let say
"Joseph was able to slightly damage wamuu" but was offguard
You will need to prove off guard is something major in the verse to not use it for downscale?
Or you need to prove it isn't to use it to downscale?

Being caught off guard would suddely reduce the durability of someone; however, if someone is actively defending, attacks generally gets the damage reduced (one try to absord impacts and such). Also, "slightly damage" may not be enough reason to scale, depending of the context (people does not scale by simply causing cheap damage).
