The weapon the character uses has its own consciousness. It can attack on its own. If the character is attacked and cannot defend themselves (is unable to defend themselves, was caught off guard, or was simply stunned), this weapon will block the attack. Does it give this character any abilities?

No, it is simply that weapon can act on its own, this could be indexed in character's equipment section, or if the weapon is relevant enough, warrant a profile for it. Unless the character have ability that grant weapon self-awareness to do those feats, then that is a completely different thing
