Yeah it has an engaging story but it's more like a dating sim or visual novel than a typical video game. Also the story gets darker and more disturbing later on. Those things may not be your personal thing IDK.

I wonder if Monika falling in love with the player is just her reaction to the existential dread of knowing absolutely nothing is real except for an external force using MC as a puppet. And that this universe is meant solely to appease this force. So Monika falls in love with the force as it is the only thing that's real, as well as the fact that it's what gives her and the universe purpose.
