The following should likely be removed from Naruto's profiles speed section.
At least Relativistic (Faster than his Base Form in the New Era, who was able to dodge a photon gun multiple times while weakened and unable to manipulate chakra)
Most lasers in fiction are not real or provable as real. Often they are supernatural in nature and do not function anywhere close to how real light should. Therefore, lasers/light beams are only accepted as real if they meet, at a minimum, a few of these criteria:

  • The beam refracts in a new material, such as a liquid or...
  • The beam diffuses in a reasonably realistic way or reflects off a material that it can be expected to, such as a non-magical mirror.
  • The beam is called lightspeed by reliable sources.
  • It is stated to be composed/consisting of photons or light itself, again by a reliable source.
  • It has its origin at a realistic source of light, such as a camera.
Furthermore, there are a few criteria which show a beam is NOT real light:

  • It is shown at different speeds in the same material.
  • It is tangible and can be interacted with physically by normal humans.
  • They do not travel in straight lines (unless you can prove refraction/reflection, see above.)
Here is the qualifications to be considered light speed. It only fills one of the qualifications at the moment.
  • It is stated to be composed/consisting of photons or light itself, again by a reliable source.
  • It has its origin at a realistic source of light, such as a camera.
Said weapon is called a photon gun, and called a excimer laser.

Now onto the counters.
  • The beam is called lightspeed by reliable sources.
No one calls it lightspeed.
  • The beam diffuses in a reasonably realistic way or reflects off a material that it can be expected to, such as a non-magical mirror.
The laser doesn't diffuse in a realistic way or reflects off material. When it hits something it explodes like a brick wall it explodes and when it hit glass it did not reflect at all instead it explodes.

Aim dodging, the guns give warning to the victim before they are fired.

Enjoy some tunes.

Glass does not reflect it is literally see through
When something is heated to high temperatures instantly it tends to explode

The photon gun literally fired at that moment and after it fired Naruto dodged
Disagree with this CRT

Disagree, it is literally called photons. This is different than just calling it a laser or even calling it light, calling it photons signals to me that it’s a lightspeed attack

Disagree, lightspeed is CLEARLY a convention within Naruto. Whatever Kishimoto and the verse thinks is light, and they understand the convention of light being lightspeed, should be considered light and lightspeed within this verse.
This includes the photon gun, which clearly shoots photons.

Another reason why this is wrong and it doesn't really refute it being a beam made of light is that the beam could very simply be regular light that heats something up, exploding as a byproduct. So the object would explode if it experienced a change in temperature that way regardless of it being a laser or not.

Isn't that also what the scan straight up says? That the heat is so extreme it transfers immediately across surfaces to **** em up.

So yeah, gotta disagree too.

Neutral, but this wiki agreed that simply causing explosions isn't enough to break light rules anymore.

Also, calling something an excimer laser inherently suggests that it uses gasses to fire UV rays.

Not a science guy so don't really understand.
Literally every statement about it calls it light.

Laser = light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation
Excimer laser = real life laser type that uses a gas to filter it to make it shoot out only UV radiation. It's used for eye surgeries.
Photon = smallest quantized particle to represent electromagnetic radiation
moves in straight lines = property of real life photons

Four pieces of reliable evidence say it's light. No need to be a science guy to understand what's made abundantly clear here.

Really it did? Damn.
What changed is that it's not longer a "Hard" counter, but it can count as a "Soft" counter. In other words it can't be a smoking gun defense but it can be used as supplementary evidence.

For the book my issue wouldn't be the lasers themselves but Naruto avoiding them while literally out of chakra and at one point dodging multiple shots while on a motorcycle.

Ah okay.

Yeah but my issue with that is the charge up time and warning systems in place before firing of the lasers. Seeing as it flashes red before firing.

In that case then the thread should've been more "Look at all these situations where the lasers are demonstrably not lightspeed" imo.

I get you. I'm just saying that if you want to redo the topic you should focus more on that aspect.

I don't really think it's an issue. Nothing in the series gatekeeps naruto from being this fast here, and if anything, it supports him being faster before if he can easily do it here.

The big issues are that Naruto is only fast with chakra buffing his physicals and a Motorcycle doesn't turn at 186,000 miles per second.
