My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Peak episode for the least interesting part of the final war

Not bad bones, not bad

All of this just reminds me that Toga's parents were the worst kind of people. I mean not literally, obviously there are worse parents.

But they had like the easiest job in the world, not treating their child like she was the spawn of Satan just because she was sucking the blood of a bird. They just sent her off to some horrible counselor and told her to act normal. Like, how about you teach your child how to handle her own feelings instead of saying be normal?

Of course she's confused and doesn't understand them, not a single one of them is actually listening to her and teaching her in return. They're just yelling at her, telling her she's not normal and that she should be ashamed of herself. No wonder Toga doesn't even understand herself or what love really is. How could she with parents like that?

I wonder, considering Toga's dreams when she was small and the fact she's covered in blood while talking to her parents. Was Toga actually cutting her own body to be able to see blood? We knew she bit herself until bleeding but she was drenched in blood. Maybe she took up self harming as a way of coping with those feelings.

It's funny, Toga claims she wants to live as herself yet all she did was use her Quirk to become other people. Despite running away from her parents, Toga was still refusing to live as herself. She's too scared to truly open up to people, since they'll act the same as her parents and "friends", just call her a disgusting monster.

Her Quirk gave her a interest in drinking blood, but her parents' rejection and oppression of this feeling only caused it to grow and grow. Until it eventually exploded from within against a boy she was crushing on, so many emotions crashing in that one moment, there's no way she could sort them all by herself.

Toga's blood obsession and her ability to love are separate, but they got jumbled together. Case in point, she never once wanted to drink Twice's blood or hurt him at all, despite the fact she did love him as well. Toga can care for another person without hurting them, she just couldn't realize it until it was way too late for her.

It's sad to see, but Uraraka's kind words couldn't undo the years of repression and abuse. Yet the fact she could make Toga happy in the end is amazing enough, by giving her the one thing she wanted most, to be accepted as a normal person.

Also, I feel like this implies Toga's Quirk is a mutation as well? Maybe it skipped a generation because I highly doubt either of her parents have the same Quirk.

I can't quite fathom the headspace necessary to cry over someone as awful as Toga, regardless of her rough upbringing.

Remember how there were legions of girls simping over this moron who crashed his car and killed a mother and her daughter. Yeah that's pretty much Toga on a worse scale. Atleast this guy didn't do murder then and had remorse, Toga doesn't even have remorse.

Now am curious after doing some research on shoto vs bakugo thread and videos on lot of other site. Why is it that no one wants to accept a winner? In every thread I've been to the answer has always been subjective. We know deku can stomp both and that is already something generalised as an objectively right answer throughout the fandom but when someone say bakugo win in a video or threads then theirs gonna be a whole stupid argument and meme as to why he doesn't win and if you say shoto win same thing happens.

Because Izuku at his peak is the top of the entire verse, standing above Prime All Might. Even when weakened significantly and his body falling apart, only Izuku with the Embers could harm Tomura. Trying to say either Shoto or Bakugo could defeat him is so obviously incorrect, it's like saying Raditz could beat Nappa.

Shoto and Bakugo on the other hand are harder to debate. Shoto scales to Dabi, who's an unknown amount stronger than Endeavor. While Bakugo scales to Tomura's growth alongside the others. Actually, I can see people finding Bakugo's stats to be a little iffy since AFO straight up says Bakugo's attacks are inferior to Endeavor.

Shoto => Dabi > Endeavor > Bakugo Cluster. Not including Dabi's big old self destruct nor Bakugo's Howitzer Impact: Cluster.

The most certain stat is speed, since Bakugo's landing that attack on Prime All Might level Tomura was far more impressive than anyone not named Izuku could do. Generally I'd say Bakugo is faster while Shoto is stronger, excluding super moves as said above. I think Howitzer Impact: Cluster has the edge in raw power.

Although Great Glacial Aegir is more useful, since in character Bakugo or Shoto aren't going to be killing each other.

TLDR: Izuku wining is a no brainer. Shoto and Bakugo requires debate, so people will stick with who they believe will win and usually won't compromise on that.

So it might end around Bakugo revival. I guess?
Episode 20 ended on Chapter 394. To reach Bakugo's moment they'd have to adapt 9 chapters in one episode, I really don't think they can take it that far.

Next episode preview showed Chapter 398's ending, which is already 4 chapters. Considering Chapter 397 is so small, I can see them going to 399 and maybe 400.

But I don't seem them reaching 403 from 395. Although, they could skip some content, like they did with the Todoroki Family vs Dabi episode. Only thing I can see skipping is the Aoyama stuff, which they could either not show at all or move into next Season. But I don't know how far that'd bring them.

The optimal ending would be the end of 401 and they could just touch it by putting the Aoyama stuff into next season.

All Might crippled crawling on the ground towards AFO in the sky looking towards the falling UA and Shiggy vs Deku standoff would be the perfect cliffhanger for the season.

Properly gauging Shigaraki's reaction time would require calc stacking which makes the feat useless
It purposefully lowballed Shigaraki’s speed tho by using some in-verse statements to assume he was no faster than a sniper bullet. Don’t see how that’s calc-stacking…

Viz just released the one manga spin-off manga, A Piece of Cake, on their website.

This is a special one shot written and illustrated by Horiokoshi, which also severs as a little prequel to the You're Next movie.

It's nice to see Class 1-A interacting together. Also, I think my favorite "gag" is Shoto trying to be friendly to Bakugo who tries everything he can to shut it down. Shoto is so unbothered by his attitude yet is clearly trying his best to be his friend, even giving him a thumbs up.

Interesting to see All Might think about the Mother of The Term Quirk.

Whose plot armor is stronger. The fight Shigaraki team or the heroes near gunga.

For Shigaraki well he just forgets he can just hide behind the UA building, get his quirks and blow up the entire, or tear through the ground to get inside where again he will get his quirks back. Or just stomp the ground and create a dust cloud.

And the heroes in gunga absolutely should be dead mangled corpses because of the sheer weight of sad mans parade. Only Ochako was above the clone waves. Which means Tsu and Jiro should be dead.

Shouldn't Best Jeanist's Fiber Master get an upgrade based on scaling mentioned on his profile? Come to think of it, they mention Low Tier Nomu being able to withstand attacks from Grand Torino. That's a pretty bad anti-feat, especially considering that it creates scaling lineage between Low Tier Nomu and Near High-Ends.

Because his profile clearly says “CASUAL Gran Torino.” When Gran Torino actually tries, he one shots a low tier Nomu and is upset because he didn’t want to cause much damage. When he is casual, he is operating at a level around 5% Deku, hence the low tier Nomu would be around that level, which is what Best Jeanists normal fiber master scales to.

You're Next doesn't do much for speed, but Deku definitely entered another dimension. It's as if the TV was wigging out and needed a beating to reset.

Speaking of the movie, according to someone who watched it, Deku apparently says, "I've got a long way to go before I'm on All Mights level!"

If he actually said that, how’d y’all (especially those who’ve already seen the movie) interpret that statement?

Personally for me, either he likely just means in terms of hero status, or he’s just outright idolizing All Might in that scenario…

Could be similar to how Raiden glazes Snake in Metal Gear Rising and is his biggest hype man even though he has surpassed him

I'm pretty sure he said that right before saying he had his friends (Katsuki and Shoto specifically) to make up for it, and it was right before he landed the finishing blows. So, I'm thinking it's a physicals thing. Granted, he did break the polarizer in the scene. The theater should really look into that. /s

Also, yeah. Deku doesn't have Gearshift yet. The fight would've been over had he had it at the time.

It's a shame the fortress' durability can't really be used to beef up Dark Might's status some more. That thing was durable.

Really depends on context. If he said that right after he threw a punch, it could mean that he's not as strong as All Might at that moment.

Otherwise it could just be hero worship.

“I’ve got a long way to go before I’m on All Might’s level” is literally glaze. Even at the end of the story he only refers to his power as “a little bit stronger” than All Might’s despite being way higher.

Not to mention I saw how he did Dark Might and he was blowing his body parts off with Air Force while not going 100% or using any other quirks, he’s just fanboying.

That or he’s referring to how he still sees AM as the peak of heroism.

Deku glazing All Might is in character

It's like how Gohan didn't think he was stronger then Goku in the cell Saga

I think that statement from Izuku at the end of the story is just referring to the core power-building-over-time aspect of One For All. All Might had a hero career of decades with One For All building in power all that time. Izuku by contrast held One For All for only a single year so it did not build up that much stronger in strength than when All Might had it at his peak.
